Sloan never lost the team, sweety. They lost him.

I know you are diehard Sloan to the bitter end, but you DO realize its the "bitter end", right? I'm pretty sure the fact that Deron Williams is sporting a Nets jersey right now and Sloan is on his tractor somewhere is good evidence that Sloan did, in fact, lose the team.

I agree that things are alright...

but I don't think we're the ones that need to chill. Al Jefferson needs to chill.

I'm still waiting for you to come up with a single "fact" regarding Sloan. It's like you started watching the Jazz in 2005, and you still don't understand what it is you are talking about.

Coaches that "lose the team" get fired. Sloan left of his own volition, he was in complete control of the situation. In fact, they begged him to stay. They wanted to rebuild with Jerry. From his position in the organization, he could have eaten Deron for lunch. He simply chose not to.

He left. Hence, they lost him. Not the other way around.

Sloan by his own admission said he left because he felt he was hurting the team and he had lost the fire to coach.

And the players didnt beg him to stay, management did.

He didnt get fired because management stood behind Sloan always.

He walked away because his players stopped buying in to his philosophy, evidenced by the team leader, Deron Williams, refusing to run his plays during a game and management did not want to suspend Williams like Sloan wanted.

And I've been watching the Jazz since 1987.

Sure, the Jazz would have stood behind Jerry, and probably would have traded Deron if Sloan told them to..... And then what?

We were barely in the playoff picture with Sloan and Williams, where would we have been without Deron in the picture?

Sloan had to go, we know what he can do, and we know what he can't...... He is not a championship caliber Coach, he's shown that time and time again......

I'm not saying the Jazz need to fire Corbin, what i am saying is that we are obviously lacking experience on the coaching staff, and that's obvious to anyone who has watched the last 18 games......

I dont think they should axe Corbin either, but I really do question the multi-year contract he got just for showing up to work. That was a mistake......

The Jazz should have thought of this before they signed a multi year deal. So far i dont like what Ty has done. His adjustments out of timeouts and after the half, have been awful. After being one of the best second half teams in the league now we cant close a game for our lives.

The whole thing with Al is just frustration. We really need to go get Jonny Flynn so Al has a good friend in the club house. Flynn would be a great 3rd guard for us too. I say hold onto Earl and get rid of Price. Harris, Flynn and watson is a nice 3 guards right there. We really need to push hard for shannon brown this offseason too. He doesnt seem like he is going back to LA. Looking at our list of FA's i let them all walk except for Earl. I think we need to trade CJ too. I hope Weaver plays well enough so we make him a bench player next year.

Ah, I see. I assumed you'd already soured on him to the same extent as Sloan.

Agree with all of that.

The Jazz's philosophy has always been that the coach is in charge, and not the players. Part of maintaining that is sending a message to the players that the coach's job is secure and that he has the full support of ownership. The fact that they signed him to an extension -- and made him (non-interim) head coach from day one -- doesn't mean they won't evaluate his job objectively in the off-season.

My own opinion is that he should be given a full year with an offseason of planning, his own training camp and perhaps a new assistant or two before we judge him.

The whole thing with Al is just frustration. We really need to go get Jonny Flynn so Al has a good friend in the club house.

If Al is frustrated then hire him some hookers. The Jazz tried to build a team made up of a star player and his friends and that didn't work out so well.

And the players didnt beg him to stay, management did.

As if that even means anything. Who cares what the players think or want? Other teams? This league is upside down from pandering to people who should shut up and play instead of putting their FA decisions on TV and skipping player intros. I mean really, who cares what Deron Williams thinks? When is he going to go out there and execute like a real man?

The truth is that the players are not real men. They are 20-somethings experiencing an extended adolescence because of fame, money, and an inflated sense of self-importance. What they think or want doesn't amount to winning, much less a championship.

That's why you utilize a coach. Coaches are real men. Sloan was a real man, and the players would have accomplished far more had they gone with his game plan. Instead, they usually go with a fame plan.

He walked away because his players stopped buying in to his philosophy, evidenced by the team leader, Deron Williams, refusing to run his plays during a game and management did not want to suspend Williams like Sloan wanted.

Why suspend a guy you are planning to trade? Sloan simply didn't want to rebuild. Otherwise he'd still be in Utah.

And I've been watching the Jazz since 1987.

Could have fooled me.

And what, exactly, is a championship caliber coach? Is it a coach that actually wins the championship? Or one that can even though he hasn't yet?
