Unless we found a way to get Austin Rivers, then yes I find it that this year is the time to get another PG.

I dont' think that's a very apt comparison. One is a SG that couldn't shoot (except in practice I guess) and the other is a PG that can't create).

That's a strange thing to say. Almond shot 49% from the field and 43% from 3 in college. Jimmer shot 45% from the field and 39% from three in college.

Since Jimmer hasn't played in the NBA, college is the only thing we have to go on. Based on that, Almond could not only shoot, but he was a significantly better shooter than Jimmer.

If Morris Almond could shoot like I expect Jimmer to shoot he'd be starting for us.

Better?

Sorry to say coach, but if you think Burks is a good defender than you haven't done much research on him. I'm intrigued by Burks because of his athleticism and mid-range game but he doesn't have an NBA body, hasn't shown any better D than Jimmer and isn't the best outside shooter for a SG.

To me, if you're going to take Burks you might as well trade down or reach and take Travis Leslie.

I'm surprised none of you have shown interest in Leonard. He is essentially the SF version of Millsap.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the Jazz make a big reach with the 12th pick and pick up Kenneth Faried.

Jan Vesely is another guy the Jazz would have to look hard at if he is on the board at 12. He is often compared to AK and would be a cheap/young replacement for him if they don't re-sign him.

I doubt Vesely is there at 12. But, be happy to nab him up if he is.

There are a few enigma's in this years draft that the Jazz could take out of nowhere.

Nikola Mirotic is a foreign player who is (according to draftexpress) the euro version of Harrison Barnes which is odd since he is 6-10 with a 7 foot something wingspan. There are plenty of instances where he put Real Madrid on his back and led them to a W along with hitting clutch shots for them all year. He has great length, has some pretty killer numbers for the Euro league and apparently is a guy who likes to mix it up and play hard. He would however most likely stay over in Europe for at least 2 years unless the team that picks him up wants to pay the large buy-out cost of his contract. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWrEZDWV3x0&feature=related

Bismack Biyombo is also another foreign player (Africa) who has awesome athleticism and NBA body (6-9, 240 pounds and 7-freaking-7 wingspan). All I know about his game is that he runs the floor well, dunks well, rebounds and blocks shots. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2QFlV3Xn18

Jeffery Taylor is 6-6 guard from Vanderbilt who has great athleticism, NBA size, works hard and is a very good defender. He has been compared to Raja Bell and Thabo Sefolosha but with more explosiveness. You probably know him from this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qixb8z-tL4

What if we get lucky as hell and win the lottery with both picks? :) I haven't done the math but the dumb and dumber quote "so you're saying their is still a chance" comes to mind :)

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but sorry to say Echo1, you're looking at him now in college and not looking at what he could do within two years in the NBA. While I agree with you that Burks, like Fredette, was not required to play, nor was he interested in, defense in college, the NBA is much different game. In the NBA Burks will have to learn to go through screens or under them, he'll have to work on his body and he'll have to improve his 3 pt shot. However, his size, length and footwork are better than Fredette's in my opinion. That gives him many advantages, especially going inside.

Burks should be able learn defensive techniques, improve his posture and balance on defense and learn to move laterally. In my opinion he has more positives to work with than Fredette. That being said, very few shooting guards in the NBA are good defenders. Jordan was an exception and Hayward will be too.

Basically, I see Burks's size creating many advantages for him in the long run. Size can't be coached. He's very athletic.

Of course shooting guards are always gambles. Maybe Burks's attitude will get the best of him. But I like his potential and the consistency he has shown. I like Burks with the 12th pick, not the 6th.

I wouldn't risk top 10 pick on any of those particular European players, and Kanter-kid has lost almost hole playing year i think only some one very desperate in getting big would risk picking him, but hey not so long time ago Thabeet was selected second overall so nothing will surprised me in example of draft
