5 team (fairly unrealistic) trade

I think it somewhat benefits all of the teams, while giving the Jazz a formidable rotation. As a Jazz fan I would do this trade only if we luck out and are able to grab Irving in the draft.

Jazz trade: Al Jefferson, Devin Harris, CJ Miles, Raja Bell, rights to Tomic, pick 12 in 2011 NBA draft

Portland trades: Nic Batum, Andre Miller

Phoenix trades: Robin Lopez, Jared Dudley, Steve Nash, second round pick

Minnesota trades: Nikola Pekovic, Wayne Ellington, Jonny Flynn

San Antonio trades: George Hill, James Anderson

Jazz receive: Robin Lopez, Jared Dudley, Steve Nash, Nikola Pekovic

Portland receives: Devin Harris, Phoenix second round pick

Phoenix receives: Al Jefferson, CJ Miles, Wayne Ellington, Utah 2011 pick

Minnesota receives: Andre Miller, Raja Bell, James Anderson

San Antonio receives: Nic Batum, Jonny Flynn, rights to Tomic

Why for Utah: Get rid of players that don't fit our system and/or are going to demand minutes and stop the ball. Get a great back up point/shooting guard in George Hill, and Steve Nash on an expiring contract to help mentor Irving (should we draft him). Robin Lopez and to a lesser extent Pekovic give us a big bodies to put next to Favors and don't need the ball to be effective. Jared Dudley would be a nice role player, tough D and can hit a corner 3. Utah would obviously have to aim for a starting SF in free agency or in the 2012 draft.

Why for Portland: Gives them a point guard that they have long coveted for what has become their back up SF since the Wallace trade. Also get a pick and get to shed Miller's contract.

Why for Phoenix: Rids them of Nash's contract (although adds Al's) and gives them a younger core and a draft pick to build for the future. CJ gives them a young gunner that I think would have success in a faster offense. Al might not be as good a fit, but he gives them a big that can score, which they greatly desire (see Hakim Warrick's contract).

Why for Minnesota: Word is they are after Raja, so they can gladly take him off of our hands. In this scenario, they would not have drafted Irving, so they would hope to bring Rubio over and have a vet in Andre Miller that could mentor him and who is a fairly similar player. They wouldn't need Flynn (rumored to have been in talks for Raja earlier this year), who hasn't seen as much playing time as he did his rookie year. They only give up a passable center, but that will somewhat clear up their logjam at that position. Ellington is just filler, and Anderson is at worst an even trade if not a step up from him.

Why for San Antonio: They seem to do really well with foreign players, and this trade nets them 2 young ones in Batum and Tomic. Batum is ready to step in and greatly contribute now, moreso than Anderson has been able to, while Tomic could learn from Duncan and Splitter while adding depth. Flynn would give them a very young and promising point that I'm sure Popovic could really work with.

I've done the math and I think the salaries would match up pretty well. Obviously this is just for fun, and in no way do I think this has a chance to get done...but it's fun to think about stuff like this.

I'm open to trading any of the players or assets you mentioned for the right thing in return, but I personally don't think this is it. We're in rebuild mode and Nash doesn't contribute to that. A lot of people might be all for this trade because it gets us Lopez, but imo he leaves a lot to be desired as a 7 foot center - he can't rebound worth a crap.

The good thing about Nash is he is only on the books for 1 year, and in return for that 1 year at 11 mil, we get rid of 2 years of 14+ mil for Al, 2 at 9+ for Devin, and 2 at 3+ for Raja. I would say that helps the rebuild.

I'M also big Fan of Nash but that trade is just bad for Jazz, so basically we gonna trade Big Al/Devin for Loopez and Nash. Even assuming that Loopez is worst copy of Big Al i would do that but only if Nash would by something like 10 years younger

The object of rebuilding is to reconstruct the competitive nature of the team, not to give away good players for nothing. This trade makes the Jazz much worse and burns assets they could use to make the team better. It is difficult to get players to sign in Utah in the first place, and acquiring players via free agency always requires paying a premium. No reason to dump salary when there is no conceivable way to sign better players. Sorry, but aside from getting rid of Bell, I just don't like the trade in any way for the Jazz.

The most i can see us doing is trading up for the draft by packaging a player maybe miles, price, watson, bell,elson . Dont see utah letting go of sap, jefferson, D-fav, Hayword, evans or harris. I think these guys are going to be the a solid core for our team.
