How do you want Ty to play the young players next season?

Utah's going to be younger than it has been in quite some time. Do you think Utah's going to keep trying to contend with their vets, with the rooks playing limited minutes, or do you think they're gonna give the Rookie's plenty of playing time during the (more than likely shortened) season?

I want Hayward and Favors to start and play starter NBA minutes, and to play Evans real rotation minutes, and to bring whichever rook they draft with the idea of giving them fine minutes by mid season.

Start the vets for the first 10 or so games, if it aint workin make some moves - go young

Way too early to tell. But if all things work out, I would like to see about 28mpg for Favors and 25mpg for Hayward. If Kanter is picked I'd like to see a regular 15-20 minute dose for him. Knight....I have no idea. He might need a year to sit, he might be ready to come in and take the lion's share of PG minutes and force Harris to play at the 2.

But its all just guess work right now. We need to see how Favors and Hayward develop over the summer. And our draft picks will be completely up in the air as far as 1st year contribution goes. I have no idea what to expect.

I don't think the rookies learn as much if you just throw them out there without solid veterans who can help them learn from their mistakes WHILE helping them gaining confidence. Deron showed us the opposite of what I'm talking about last year.

That's why I'd love to see the Jazz bring back Earl Watson and Andrei. I think they'd both be great veterans for a team with a lot of youngsters.

Hayward easily needs to start, Favors might not be starting, but he needs 20-25 minutes a night, if we draft Knight, then he needs to come off the bench in a 14-17 minute role, along with the 12th pick.

Durant and Westbrook didnt get to the conference finals by sitting on their cans the first two years of their careers.

Sloan has become a part of your DNA I think. People drafted in this league in the top 3 start. Unless the coach is Larry Brown or Jerry Sloan and the player is Darko Milicic or Deron Williams...

If the Jazz are a playoff team, they are a borderline 8 with the current roster. If they don't give the 2nd year players and rookies minutes to develop with the veterans and see this as a long term project then they are crazy.

Having 2 more top ten picks next year (ours and GS) would give us the assets and flexibility in bringing a semi-star to Utah and help build this team back to contention with a good combination of youth and veterans.

Heard Corbin on the radio yesterday saying "we're gonna have to play young guys."

I hope Favors and Hayward average at least 30 mpg next season. The #3 and #12 I hope average 20 mpg. It would be cool to see Evans have success as a SF, but he may always just be our spark off the bench coming in from the mezzanine (from Hubie Brown).

Utah isn't going to win the championship next season.

I'd honestly be okay with devoting the entire season to the rooks and sophs developing. Vets will help them out for sure, but I don't want to see the old guys taking the majority of the minutes.

With the rookies and sophomores playing, two things can happen.

They surprise everyone, and they get playoff experience.
Or they get their experience, and we get another lotto pick.

This is a transition season, I don't even want to try to contend unless the young guys really have a breakout season.

I would like Favors and Hayward to develop roles early. I still see Al being the core but would love to integrate some plays for Favors and to give Hayward the role of creating when the shot clock is running out.

Thats because in the past those picks have been ready to start. But we aren't really getting top 5 material this year right? had all the good players declared for the draft then Knight and Kanter would be between 7-10. I dont think that just because a player was taken 3rd that means that he has to start. Remember Turner last year? I may be wrong but I dont think he started anymore than Hayward did. Also you have to remember that generally the teams that draft in the top 5 are BAD teams with BAD players so when those high draft picks come in they are immediately the best player on the team like Wall and Griffin and they have to start. This probably wont be the case for the jazz.

We went through this question at the end of last year and to me, the answer is painfully obvious.

The sooner these younger guys start getting real NBA minutes under their belts the better.
Or we'll keep bringing the issue up. It's just how a rebuild goes. It's like working out. You have to workout all the different areas or you'll end up weak in one.
