Josh Smith

Post#1 » by CarrKeefe » Tue Jun 21, 2011 7:37 pm

With the Hawks exploring trade scenarios for Josh Smith, do you think Atlanta would bite on a Memo and #12? Memo and next years Warriors pick? Or if Atlanta laughs us off the phone could we offer Big Al for Josh Smith? That allows us to draft Kanter, and move Favors to PF, Kanter to Center, then we let AK walk and we use Josh Smith as our SF. I'm a huge Josh Smith fan.

I'll remember that game four in the Chicago series where he got 23 pts, 16rbs, 8 assists, 2 blocks.

It is not a bad thought on either trade idea. But if you trade Jefferson away for Smith, then tha leaves Kanter starting at center. That would likely be too much for him to handle. You could do the trade is Memo could play but apparently that is a big question mark.

ATL would never do Memo and the #12 for Josh Smith. Memo's biggest draw is that he is an expiring contract.

ATL would probably ask for Favors, and I'd rather have Favors over Smith. I think Smith is as good as he is going to get while Favors ceiling as a PF is higher.

Josh Smith is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) athletic and will post monster games like the one you listed, but he leaves me scratching my head sometimes with the jumpshots he takes.

I still think Atlanta would bite on a Jefferson for Josh Smith straight up deal. It works under ESPN's trade machine. It gives them size to pair up with Horford. On our end it allows Favors to move to PF. If Kanter isn't ready to go right away, then we sign a center in free agency, or we move Favors to Center. I just think a future Favors/Kanter frontcourt could be dominating and having Josh Smith, Hayward, and Harris rounding out the lineup would be a well balanced lineup.

Harris
Hayward
Smith
Favors
Kanter

not a bad lineup, it just depends on Kanter. He probably won't be ready to start for a few years. And I doubt we can sign a quality starting C. So we might be forced to play Favors at C with Smith at PF. The problem with that is that we will be undersized like the Hawks with Horford.

AJ's still only 26, And quality big men are hard to come by. If Favors reaches his potential, a front court of Favors, AJ and Millsap/Kanter would be tough to compete with

We minus well keep Millsap as our SF if were gonna get Smith. Smith is horrible at SF. Plus he's got that Lebron mental thing where he thinks he can shoot but constantly bricks and won't change no matter what you tell him.

THIS ^

Smith is successful b/c he's a mismatch for other PFs with his athleticism, he wouldn't work as a SF and most likely we would have to start Favors at C... no thanks

No thanks to Josh Smith. The guy is a great athlete but is a head case and inconsistent as heck.

I believe that is just an empty rumor. No weight to it from what I've read on Hawks board.

I love Josh Smith. If Kanter were our guy, I would be willing to trade Millsap + CJ for Smith. Dont think Smith is worth Jefferson straight up. Any trade IMHO needs to involve some of our trash, i.e. CJ or Bell....

If we're looking to dump CJ, all we have to do is not pick up his option for next year.

Yeah I just read that. I didnt know it was a team option for this year. I dont think CJ is worth $4 to be honest. And I dont think Bell is worth $3mm!

Agreed on both.
