I know that it's not fair to compare a rookie who hasn't stepped on the court to MJ and Durant, but passing on the BPA to draft by position has killed Portland, and other teams as well. In the event that Kanter and Favors show they are our best frontcourt combination, we can trade away Big Al and/or Millsap. For now, we got Kanter and Favors locked up for 3/4 years in their rookie contracts, and Big Al, Okur, and Millsap will help them develop their game. We weren't going to win a title by playing it safe, so I like the approach we took this draft. Not saying we're going to win a title, but the potential to become a contender soon is there if some of our players meet their potential in the next few years.

Oden was the clear best player available in 2007, the Blazers had a stacked frontcourt, and their SF wasn't very good.
