Fes to sign with Ukrainian team

Post#1 » by hoops4life » Mon Jul 25, 2011 7:46 pm

Not a real surprise or a big loss in my mind.

Center Kyrylo Fesenko is reportedly close to signing a contract with professional Ukrainian team Dnipro.
Fesenko's agent, Stu Lash, said he was not aware of the deal.
Fesenko was recently linked to Spanish club Baskonia.
The 7-foot-1, 280-pound Fesenko averaged 2 points, 2 rebounds and 8.6 minutes last season in 53 games for the Jazz. He will become an unrestricted free agent once the NBA lockout ends and players are allowed to sign with new teams.

Good for him. He's a good guy, and he may have an easier time competing over there. Hard to see him even cracking our rotation next year, much less developing into a significant contributor.

Naaah, I don't think Fes is leaving the Jazz, He is just signing until the NBA starts up again if he in fact is. I would expect Fransico Elson is gone before Fes leaves unless they see Elson as a certain role player he fits into better with Kantor or Jefferson.

Just like Miles (but on another level), he's one of those players that seem to have everything needed to be great... except they have a poor mentality. And just like Miles, I think we've seen everything he has to give. Fes won't get much better than what we know, and that's not good enough for this team.

May he have a nice career elsewhere!

I agree with this for the most part, with the important exception that Miles' problems seem to come from on-the-court decision-making. Off the court he seems to do all the right things.

Fesenko, meanwhile, can't seem to put in the work off-the-court to get playing time. When he does get playing time he seems to play mostly within himself and actually plays smart basketball.
