Conley shot better. He racked up mroe than double the steals. He had nearly a 3/1 assist to ratio. Plus unless i"M mistaken he's cheaper and younger.

Yeah Conley is turning into a beast. I was very impressed with him...

I was responding to Barney in a broader context than just how Devin played after coming into an extremely difficult situation with the Jazz. Devin's scoring and assist averages were both higher on the season.

I don't think Conley's being cheaper or younger is relevant to this particular conversation, though you're correct on both points.

I like Conley too. I just don't think he's demonstrated he's better than Devin yet.

Oh, ok. I was only talking about the player I saw in a Jazz uniform. If you want to argue something beyond that we are having separate discussions.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Yeah, I should have specified, since you and I were talking about Devin-as-a-Jazz-man before I shifted gears in responding to Barney.

I expect we'll see the "real" Devin next year, but if we were basing things solely on his 17 difficult games with the Jazz (quite a small sample size), you make a fair argument.

Millsap was 46th on SI's list.

or a in his prime, bargain contract, dependable, underrated player

What was debatable last year certainly looks like a no-brainer now, doesn't it?

But he's not underrated by Jazz fans. He may be overrated by them. And his contract, at $8M against the cap annually, isn't necessarily bargain just because other guys are grossly overpaid. I think he's fairly compensated.

The real question now isn't Boozer vs. Millsap, it's Millsap vs. Al Jeff vs. Favors.

Hopefully Millsap accepts a 6th man role, so that we have the best big-man rotation in the league instead of a trade piece.

Agreed. Millsap is great off the bench. He's too small as a starter...

If Millsap accept 6th man role, we still have a Big Al, Favors and Kanter~~

We must trade either Millsap or Big Al.

If Millsap can play @3, then we don't need to make any trade~~ But I don't think Millsap can do so~~

No harm in having four quality big men, especially since Kanter will probably take a couple years to develop. Who knows if Al will be here past his current contract? You can go from a log-jam to a dearth of talent at a position very quickly in this league.

Truth, it was not too long ago we had a log jam on the wings.

The real harm is in making a trade where you end up on the short end of the stick.

If the Jazz keep all five big guys on their roster, then they'll be unhappy about minutes, starting/bench, they'll develop slower, their numbers will drop so their trade value will plummet, you could trade Millsap or Jefferson for a backup PG and suffer no win reduction because the other guys would make up the production due to so many guys.

Well, if that ort of thing happens, there should be more options midseason once some teams find out they either are or aren't contenders.
