If entire season is lost--Would Deron come back to Jazz
Not probable but possible.
Would Deron be able to opt out immediately from his contract with New Jersey after this lost season?

Congratulations! You still know what year it is despite the appearance of consuming large volumes of alchohol.
So what is the answer genius?
If there are zero games played this season and no CBA, do the player contracts continue to expire as though there was a season? Or does everyones contract roll forward a year, since there was no agreement with the owners in place?

Deron is not comming back. He will look for his superteam he can join up with. Unless the new NBA wont allow that due to financial constraints.

GS 1st
D-Will, Harris, Watson
Hayward, Harris, Burks
AK, Hayward, something else
Kanter, Millsap
Jefferson, Favors
That's a pretty dang good, deep team with plenty of trading chips to add more value.

The contracts are service contracts for a specific period of time. If that time is missed for strike or lockout that contract year just goes away. The loss of a full season would mean that any contract that expired in the previous two years would be a free agent during the next free agent period.

Exactly! With our new additions, we could be just the team that Deron is looking for.

We are a team comming off a losing season. A team that is not know to spend with the likes of champions like the lakers and heat. We have alot of talent now, but Deron knows that most of this talen will have to leave because we will not be able to keep them due to salary constraints. Everybody would love to have a top player at his position, but a top player at his position will never leave his current team for Utah.

If Kanter, Favors, or Hayward pan out there is no reason that we shouldn't be able to keep them. Okur and Jefferson will be coming off the books right aroud the time that they would be blossoming.

The idea of Deron coming back might just be too much whiplash for any fanbase to handle.
A brief history of Jazz fan conventional wisdom...
2005-2006: Crap, why isn't Deron starting? He could be the best point guard in the league!
2006-2011: Deron is the best point guard in the league!
2011-2012: Deron is overrated, a lockerroom cancer, a coach killer.
2012-: Deron is the best point guard in the league!
My neck would be having flashbacks to the time when my car was rear-ended on I-15.

Don't forget 2005 draft: Why the hell are we drafting Williams? He's fat and slow.

Denial - A defense mechanism in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it instead, insiting it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence.

I would guess that contracts would expire as usual. But, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some mechanism to let teams retain certain player rights such as restricted free agency.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."
