Memo in Turkey....

Post#1 » by red4hf » Mon Oct 17, 2011 12:16 am

Game one of the season, Memo with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 1 block in a win...... Also played 31 minutes......

Great to see that Memo is still able to play and contribute, even if it's not for the Jazz......

Really happy to see this. One of my favorite players. When he went down against the Nuggets, trying to play through an injury, was really tough to watch. Glad he's playing well. He deserves it.

Very impressive for a first game after so long sitting out. I expect Memo to be a major rotation player again this season.

Whoa...

Thats really great and all, but I don't know about labeling him as a major rotation player.

But who cares. I'm just glad he's getting healthy and is able to play effectively again. I love that guy.

When I say major rotation player, I mean he should be getting more than 12 minutes a night. That's going to be very hard with our current roster, though.

You can take the Memo out of Turkey, but you can't take the turkey out of Memo.

To be honest, at this point, I'd rather lose the season, and get a great CBA for teams like the Jazz.......

Last game of Okur

Mehmet Okur hit a game-winning three-pointer on Tuesday night to lift Turk Telekom to victory at Pinar Karsiyaka.

With Turkish basketball still talking about the 50-point explosion by Okur's former Utah Jazz teammate Deron Williams for Besiktas last week, Okur capped another solid performance with a long-range shot that gave the Ankara team an 83-81 triumph on Tuesday.

The result had left both sides with 2-2 records in Group G.

Utah Jazz big man Okur, like New Jersey Nets guard Williams, is to soon head back to the United States following Saturday's announcement that the lockout is set to end this week.

Okur had 14 points and 10 rebounds in Izmir against Karsiyaka.

His free-throw had given Turk Telekom an 80-79 advantage with 31 seconds to go but Karsiyaka went in front when Alper Saruhan hit a jump shot.

After a timeout by the visitors, Okur caught a pass by Muratcan Güler and hit the shot from the arc with nine seconds to play for a two-point lead.

Mire Chatman of Karsiyaka had an opportunity to put the home side back in front but his three-pointer was off target.

Darius Washington scored 19 points and Muratcan Güler had 13 along with eight rebounds and six assists.
