Will four of our Rooks/Sophs play during All Star Weekend?

Post#1 » by Xsy » Tue Nov 29, 2011 10:44 am

The NBA Rookie Challenge is a chunk of the NBA All Star Weekend that pits the NBA's Rookies vs Sophomores in an exhibition game.

Favors is a veteran of the Rookie challenge, having played as a rook last year. Though he was outshined by Cousins, he'll probably still make the team this season.

Hayward hadn't hit his stride before the All Star game, so he wasn't selected for the team. If he starts this new season playing as well as he did at the end of last season, I can see him snagging a spot at SG or SF.

Burks, despite being the twelfth pick in the 2011 draft, was only the second SG selected. The first SG selected, Klay Thompson, went one spot before him, at number eleven. So I think he has a pretty good shot at making the squad.

Kanter is pretty much a lock. Valanciunas was the only other C selected in the lotto, and he won't be in the league until the 2012/13 season.

So yeah, Utah has a legit chance to represent its youngsters. The only one I can see maybe not making it is Hayward.

Hayward starts for the Jazz this yr and will shine like crazy. He makes the Soph team for sure. Favors as well. I hope Burks get PT because he is going to be a stud SG.
I think your right in the fact that the Jazz could be looking good on ALLStar weekend..
Jefferson may make his first AllStar game this yr as well. Plus If Chris Pauls get traded to the east then Harris could make it back as well. I know even then its a big IF!! Just a thought.

Yes, according to multiple reports I've read, it is on.

I'd rather see Evans in the dunk contest.

But I think both Hayward and Favors will be in the soph game.

Ya, we need to start a campaign to get Evans into the dunk contest.

I don't know, I think I'd be just fine with any player who's not named Nate Robinson in the Dunk Contest.

No way Harris makes it still. Nash, Westbrook and Parker are definitely ahead of him still. Not to mention Stephen Curry too.
