Ugh this thread is depressing

*sigh* the Jazz won 47% of their games last season...

I see 24-26 wins, although there is the potential there for this thing to blow up in our face and for us to end up with 12-15.

This is a young team without an identity. I do not think Corbin is our coach of the future, and I'm extremely skeptical of his abilities as a top guy.

Add to this the fact that we are in rebuilding mode and that we are likely to trade Jefferson or Millsap (maybe even both) by the trade deadline, and you have a recipe for not so much success.

On top of this, we need another high draft pick to flesh this rebuilding project out. I'm expecting that we get a borderline top 10 pick. Best case is probably 7th overall. If we had the 7th and 9th picks (ours and GS), we could realistically end up with a combo of Bradley Beal and Michael Gilchrist/John Henson.

A combination like that would put us in the driver's seat to be the next great young up-and-coming team, provided that at least two of the Favors/Kanter/Burks/Hayward combo reach their ceiling, or close to it. We need to get rid of CJ, add some shooting and defense on the wings, ship out Jefferson for either a nice veteran, pass first PG who can defend and shoot (Felton/Nelson ish) or put together a package of Jefferson, Harris and picks for a stud PG like Rondo or maybe even Westbrook.

Either way, winning is not in our best interest for this season. Mediocrity is the worst thing in the world if you want to win championships. Be like OKC and suck for two years, and then when you're fully loaded, you make a big leap up. If the Jazz had not gotten so much better in 05-06, we could have had Brandon Roy or Rudy Gay instead of Ronnie Brewer and there's a great chance we'd be talking about championship right now.

Be patient and stay the course. 26-40.

I think that the Jazz win around 28-30 games this yr. I'm hoping for 20-24. Like many have said, as far as the talent in this draft class and the potentail duo lotto picks. I feel that if they can build for the future this yr and nail these two picks then the future is bright and OKC will be nothing compaired to this team. This team may right now have more over all talent (other than Durrant). Any way I think that Favors, Kanter, Burks, Hayward could all be special. Only time will tell...

I see the Jazz getting 20-22 wins this year. I am totally fine with this if the younger guys get some good minutes. This is a slight improvement in the winning percentage based on Corbins coaching last year. With a shortened training camp the Jazz won't have much time to change anything up.

Under Sloan and Phil Johnson, with Williams and Kirilenko for the majority of the season. Their winning percentage was .286 under Ty Corbin. That's 19 wins in a 66 game season, I think they will do significantly better though, it's pretty unfair to judge last season when Sloan handed him a nasty situation already.

I think the Jazz tanked ever so slightly last yr. to get a better spot with our own pick.

34-32 sounds reasonable.

I'll say 28.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Jazz are better than the crowd and fan base have agreed and follow. They just see what has happened "last night" and say the acceptable answer.

Deron is better than Harris (not by a lot relatively) but Jefferson/Milsap is better than Boozer.

So why the fall off last year? Easy, new team, new coach, new offense, new everything really. And the Jazz in some respects didn't want to win at the end of the season last year.

So they will be better than most think. If they were playing 82 I'd say 53 wins, but in 66 games....

43-23

If you are following the bandwagon you will be surprised this year.

If this team wins 43 games Tyrone Corbin will win COTY.

Looked over the schedule and counted out about 30 wins, but that is with perfect health.

Knowing we'll lose at least a few games solely because of injury, and then again with the back to back's, i think we're probably a 25-27 win team.

Hope your right! :) But the NBA seems to pass over Utah when the Coach of the Year award comes around.

Too hard to tell for me, the teams haven't really set their rosters enough yet.

My prediction went off of last years team and the winning attitude of the Jazz organization. I just don't get it why it is so popular to say the Jazz will lose so badly this year, just because they went into a slump at the end of last season from all the turn-over, changes etc. I believe those changes were made for the better now, not for the future.

They'll be a .500 team barely I hope so 33 wins. I remember that one year 2005 i think it was where we had only ak as our biggest name on the roster and we won like 41 that season. And I say that this team the jazz have now has way more talent then that of the 05 team did and they also weren't expected to do anything at all that year.

Return to Utah Jazz
