Idea for big man rotation.
Jazz clearly have a ton of big men and too many big men than minutes. I think one method of deciding which guys to keep and play and which to potentially trade could be having two sets of starters. Millsap-Favors could be one set of starters, Jefferson-Okur as the other. The Jazz's first 12 games are back-to-backs so one set could start one night and have both guys play 32 minutes each, then the next set starts the next game while the other set rests. Kanter and Evans would play 16 minutes each every game. Not a perfect solution at all, but I think it could help for deciding the rotation to start the year. Thoughts?

I think that is a terrible idea.
If you have two sets of starters, you have none.

I don't think it's a terrible idea. Not in a season like this, but I'd rather see a set starting rotation with "starter" minutes being the difference on back-to-backs.

Re: Idea for big man rotation.
When Malone entered his 2nd season, the Jazz traded away Adrian Dantley so that Malone could be main offensive weapon in the post. If the Jazz think Favors is ready to be the man or at least learn to be the man, then trading away the guy that is going to take his shots away, Jefferson, maybe necessary. Memo and Favors make a nice combo inside/out and so does Jefferson/Millsap...but Jefferson/Favors seems to clog the middle alot with 2 players that are bad outside shooters and bad passers. Best situation until Jefferson sent packing is similar to what you suggest.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Re: Idea for big man rotation.
I've been saying we'll see it for a while now. I think we'll see Corbin try out a lot of different rotations, and the back-to-backs are going to be a great reason to wheel out the new lineups without offending the guys as badly. To say you are splitting up 5 games in 6 days to share the workload is a lot better than getting benched in a regular season.
In a lot of ways, the shortened season is going to open up opportunities for our guys to compete for time that they never would have gotten in a normal, no surprises season when the rotation gets cemented and only gets shaken up with injuries. If they can keep the right attitude in the locker room, a lot of these guys could really grow their games in the competition. Or else it could be a massive train wreck,
, and we could end up with one more great draft pick.

In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

When you look at this team you have to think that a high draft pick is not going to happen. With that in mind I trade Millsap (Unless he can play the SF) for a starting SF. It would balance out the roster and really give this team a great starting line up, with one of the most talented benches in the league.

Re: Idea for big man rotation.
Or we could just play Millsap for 10-14mpg at small forward and move Evans to that position (which is the one that seems he will ultimately play). That would pretty much solve the logjam, unless you think Memo will get significant minutes (I doubt that will be an issue, but it would be a welcome one).

I think Evans is more capable of playing the 3 than Millsap is.

Re: Idea for big man rotation.
i dont think i would go too far in comparing jefferson to dantley. for one thing, jefferson is being relied upon for leadership on this team. dantley may have been a captain, but he was/is no leader.
jefferson is and will be a valuable member of this team.
c-okur kanter
pf-jefferson favors
millsap is moved around as match-ups dictate, but no sf for him.

Dantley was significantly better than Jefferson though. He managed to put up 30 a game on historic efficiency. It was all empty stats with no real impact, but his empty stats were still better.

Re: Idea for big man rotation.
I think the Jazz aren't in a hurry to make a decision -- nor should they be. Jazz should have at least one much sought-after veteran big man by the time the March (!) trade deadline rolls around. And based on the dollars being thrown around right now Okur or Jefferson might seem like a bargain.
