Reasons for him asking for a trade would be:

1. Efficient 18-8 gets you around 13m a year generally, efficient 13.5-6 (His stats with 25% fewer minutes) on the bench gets around 7m a year. He could be losing tens of millions of dollars if he goes to the bench.

2. Getting demoted for a young guy and a guy who never has played for a quality team after playing a pretty great season and then working his ass off in the offseason is something that would greatly infuriate every single player in every sport ever.

He would probably handle limited minutes and a bench role better than Al, but there would probably be issues.

Should be:

Al
Derrick
Howard
Hayward
Harris

but maybe Millsap or Miles will be playing too.

I want:

AL
Derrick
CJ
Hayward
Harris

Because a bench of:

Memo/Kanter
Milsap/Evans
Howard
Burks/Bell
Watson/Tinsley
Would blow a lot of other teams benches away...
This would be a very balanced team and a great team for a tight schedule where having good players at all times on the floor will be HUGE and produce a lot of wins that in a regular season wouldn't matter as much. I hate to say it, (because I want a pick) but the Jazz will make a playoff run this yr and do very well. You heard it first right here...

Wow not one has mentioned Okur. I believe he already has the spot and it is his to lose, as a starter that went injured. He will win it to keep.

There are two to three levels here, start of game, end of game and start of game at the playoffs.

PG: Harris
SG: Hardest one to pick...Miles. Hayward, Howard, or Burk could easily take this or SF by the playoffs
SF: Milsap
PF: Jefferson
C: Okur

opps, I forget to mention at the playoffs starting line-up

PG: Harris
SG: Hayward
SF: Howard, or if Milsap and Kanter are traded heres to wishing: Odom
PF: Favors
C: Okur

backcourt H to the third, H3 :D
Go ReAL!

Okur is not starting. If Big Al or Favors goes down then it could happen.

David Locke

Listed as starters on the Jazz media game notes -- Devin Harris, Raja Bell, Gordon Hayward, Memo Okur and Al Jefferson

When you can put your best player and best prospect on your team on the bench to start a completely one-dimensional player who doesn't play defense and is coming off a career altering injury and is a horrible complement to the other big man in the frontcourt, you've got to do it. Millsap may not be starting due to injury, but Memo ahead of Favors in the depth chart (which is what this looks like), makes me want to strangle something.

It's still the pre-season. Those are pre-season lineups.

Exactly, people getting worked up over a preseason starting line-up is ridiculous. Not to mention Millsap is hurt (which I'll go onto in a second).

I think it's evident that we need to trade Millsap by the trade deadline for a 1st Round Pick and another player to throw in. Apparently he already has a knee tendinitis issue that's minor, but I think he had the same issue last season. He wants to be a starter, but yet I think we've seen his peak. I don't have a problem with him being a starter, but it shouldn't be for us. We can get some solid value out of him, and trade some of our picks to get even higher in the draft.

I didn't get to see the scrimmage but some people said he did not look very good.. (plus we have Jefferson and Okur as centers)

Yeah but still. Fans use to be more excited about a top pick. This is the first time I walk into a team's board and see posts refering to the a top 3 pick as the third option at his position. In this case Jefferson > Okur > Enes.

I'm a Cavs fan and I would love to have Kanter instead of Thompson. And I like Thompson..

Kanter isn't a ready top 3 pick. In a yr or two he will show why he was a top 3 pick. The reason is that he's 19 and has only played a few games since he was 17 yrs old. This guy will be a great big man in 4-5 yrs. Unlike most top 3 picks that are ready to start from day one. With that said, he would start for the Cavs and move along at a much quicker pace.

Right you are, sir. But usually fans want their pick to have the most playing time possible. I'm not saying the contrary is a bad thing. Just an unsual one :D

Since there are really only 2 Jazz players that are still around from our WCF run - Millsap and CJ, I think Corbin should make them co-captians. Both of them seem to worry about being a starter but they both would best serve the team coming off of the bench.

Starters:
PG- Harris
SG- Bell
SF- Hayward
PF- Favors
C- Jefferson

Howard starts at SF once he is ready and Hayward moves to SG. CJ and Millsap get the majority of the bench minutes and are the Captains helping to keep them happy. I'm assuming this isn't the first time tha a Captain is the 6th or 7th man. Kanter, Bell, Watson, and Evans get the rest.
