If his potential is so limited, why do you want him?

Maybe on real potential this isn't laughable, but on perceived value it will be. There is literally nowhere for Derrick Williams to go in Minny. He can't play SF, that much is evident already, and they already have a much better player with an extremely similar skill set in front of him. He can't play with Love, and even if he could, he's got TWO top 5 picks in front of him at the 3, Beasley and Johnson.

No, unless something changes fast, Williams will grow frustrated and his play will suffer, leading to a downward spiral that ends with Minny trading him for a late 1st or a future 2nd. Then he will have a solid (or better) career with his new team. The fact that they let it get all the way to the beginning of the season without trading him or clearing room for him to play is a testament to the dysfunctional nature of that franchise.

So, no, thanks. Not interested.

We need legit SF. D-Will is a superstar in the making.

We have Millsap to cover PF.

jazz give wolves favors

I cant tell if people are overestimating favors or under estimating Williams. I still say no to the trade but they are pretty close. Favors still has more potential to be a rare star, while Williams is easier to replace.

Good luck ever getting that pick.

2012 first round draft pick from Utah
Utah's own 2012 first round pick to Minnesota (top 14 protected in the 2012 draft and top 12 protected in the 2013 draft). If Utah has not conveyed a first round pick to Minnesota by 2014 and also if Utah's own 2014 first round is not within the top 9 picks, then Minnesota will have the option to swap their own 2014 first round pick with Utah's own 2014 first round pick. If Minnesota does not receive a first round pick by the 2013 draft and also does not swap 2014 first round picks with Utah, then Minnesota will receive Utah's own 2014 second round pick. I'll trade you Favors for Rubio, that Memphis pick, protection on our pick given back, only with a simultaneous swap of Beasley for CJ, Raja and 3 million cash.

Maybe you guys forgot how hard it has been for this franchise to find a guy that can protect the rim. Now that we have him, it would take a premium on top of his actual value to pry him away. The downfall of this franchise has often been our inability to protect the rim. Now, maybe if we snag the top pick and get Anthony Davis or Andre Drummond, or if we decide to pursue John Henson later in the top 10, then you consider that. But giving up Favors would take a lot of value in return, and Derrick Williams is not it. I wouldn't trade Kanter for him.

As a wolves fan I'd make the deal and I agree that he has more value than anyone from the most recent draft. No way I'd trade Love for him, but I can see why your team wants to build around Favors.

You're obviously just here to troll, but the answers in this thread echo my opinion as well. There is no way I'd trade Favors for Williams, and it would be iffy if I sent him for Love - but ultimately I probably would.

No the Timberwolves didnt say that. They dont want him to learn two different positions at this time. It is hard enough for a rookie coming into the league and learn one position, let alone two.

Turnover21 is going on all kinds of boards throwing out trade offers. I would rather the WOlves just keep the team we have and see what happens. I think that Favors along with D Williams will both become VERY good players in the league. But right now I would keep Love and D williams.

No. Not a chance of Derrick Williams for Favors.
