why less turnovers?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Sat Jan 14, 2012 8:31 pm

The Jazz have always been a team under Sloan that emphasized the extra pass which helped the Jazz usually lead the league in shooting but also turnovers. In fact, Dwill at times was a turnover machine. This year our assists are down but usually getting 20+ assists per game and Hayward getting alot of assists recently, but turnovers are way down. The Jazz shooting percentage also way down.

I can only explain this by the fact the Jazz are still passing the ball but not making the extra pass, but also not getting alot turnovers. I like the way we are playing but we need to hit some of these outside shots which will also help our assists totals. Of course, it is also clear our PG play needs to improve. Just seems weird to me to have games like the Lakers game where we had like only 11 turnovers.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Easier plays and passes right now and less individual ball handling are the main factor there methinks.

Al Jefferson being the main offensive cog has a ton to do with it. Bash him all you want, but he doesn't turn the ball over.

Hayward ability to be a distributor helps as well, but mostly it's Al.

Based in what I watched, the team are not sharing the ball as they did under Sloan.

There's less TO, but there's a lot of individual plays like Howard or Jefferson. So, less TO but less good shots. Our % is really bad.
In the other hand, Deron and AK were great passers, but they tried some difficult passes and they TO the ball often.

Still, I have to say we're improving in execution and passing.
