Favors vs. Kanter

Post#1 » by Neon Black » Thu Feb 9, 2012 5:57 am

Basically, who do you think has the most likelihood to be a perennial all-star? Not asking who will, just who has the most potential.

I'm personally going with Kanter, though Favors is the sexier choice. I've honestly just been blown away by his rebounding rate and arsenal of post moves...at the age of 19, with less actual experience than a lot of guys. He's got a ton of improvement to make - at the same time, he does a lot of fundamental things that a lot of NBA veterans never really grasp. His timing, use of size and strength, positioning, footwork, ability to use either hand, smooth shooting stroke (although it has yet to really come forth in-game) and array of post moves; it's just an impressive slew of really intuitive talents the kid has.

It's impossible, really, to say who will be better, or even just how good either kid will be. I personally believe that Kanter becomes a franchise player, whom we build around for years to come.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to eat some crow...Kanter was the last guy I wanted the Jazz to draft up until a few days before draft day. Now I think he becomes more of a difference maker than most players in his draft pool.

it might be just because when we see kanter he is playing against the other teams bench, but when he is in the game he is a difference maker. he brings energy and automatic preformance. frustrating the other big men, grabbing boards and making easy shots. he is really everything you could hope for in a 19 year old rookie.

ive seen more "smarts" from kanter. but i have seen more atheleticism and more flashes of greatness from favors. that is why i picked favors. but with this poll being so close so far is a good sign.
