Practice player, it's hard to have practice if you have injuries or want to rest vets.

I would think a better use for a practice player or a deeper bench would be 10 day contracts. Methinks a 2 or 3 for 1 or 2 trade will happen within the next month, and Carroll is for keeping the Jazz at the required 13 minimum.

In all seriousness I think it's just a case of KOC liking a guy and snagging him at the first opportunity (he was just waived by Denver).

Smart addition on the cheap that can fill multiple holes in case of an injury.

10 day contracts are to get looks at guys, Carroll has been around the NBA a few years and he's versatile. People already know what he is, so might as well pick him up, plus like many others have said KOC probably likes his game.
