As much as I want Kevin O'Connor to pull off some deal sending Jefferson and Harris out for expirers and future 1sts, I just don't think the deals are out there. Not terribly surprising given how poorly those two have produced in their minutes.
However, both guys will be valued expiring contracts next year.
So, I think the Jazz are just going to suffer through the next year, losing a lot of games. Putting a poor product on the floor. But, hopefully getting a couple nice draft picks in the process.
I will say it's rather unbearable. It's so hard to watch Corbin go back to his starters only to have the other team instantly go on a 6-0 run to put the game out of reach every night after watching the bench claw their way back into the game. I mean you have to wonder if Corbin is blind, mentally deficient, or a Masochist the way he goes back and back and back to what is failing. But, I guess it might just be a clever way of tanking. Until someone comes up with a better explanation I'll go with that.
So, fellow Jazz fans. I guess all we can really do is enjoy the run made by the bench and just turn off the set when Corbin puts the starters back in. And pull up nbadraft.net and start dreaming about the lotto. That's my plan anyway.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I don't think you're giving OConner
enough credit. At least I hope you aren't. Haha.
Remember how stoked we were for Jefferson in spite of Minnesota failures? One mans trash is another ones treasure. Hopefully there's a team out there who feels they can use him.

Now Al hasn't been producing??? I get that alot of Jazz fans want to blame all the team's troubles at his feet but he is still a 19 & 9 C/PF...

I agree that things look pretty bleak. Even for as bad as Jefferson and Millsap have been, I don't think you can go with Favors and Kanter at the end of a game if you are actually trying to win it though. Yes they played better than Al and Paul last night, but there is no way that Coach Corbin can predict that Millsap and Al will be no-shows when he puts them in at the end of a game like that. He can't play for them. Also, he did adjust by putting Favors back in late in the game when it was clear that Millsap wasn't there mentally.
Paul and Al are starters for a reason. Yes they suck lately, but if you are trying to WIN games (and that's the key) I think if you're Ty you still have to go to them late. I agree that maybe it is time to change our focus to getting the young guys quality minutes.

I wouldn't place all the team's troubles at his feet. But, we are better with Kanter and Favors on the floor by my eye.
I think we could see some addition by subtraction in moving him.

How can anyone say that Jefferson has performed poorly this year?! That is absolutely ridiculous! The guy has been hands down our best AND most consistent player all year long!
Unbelievable.
That being said, I don't think he is a winner. In order for his teams to win they must have a solid leader. Which we don't.

My only other thought is a failed attempt to increase trade value. My gut tells me the reality is he is balancing chemistry and doesn't want to make too many changes too quickly

No one wants Al Jefferson. Certain teams may want Devin Harris. Hopefully, the Jazz find a taker of Bell and/or Miles. I would be in favor of trading over-rated Paul Millsap.
I dont mind if its a long year if the young guys are doing the playing.

So you're saying he's performed well but he's not a winner. I'm so confused. Are the Big Al apologists resorting to the Chewbacca defense?

Al has been average this year, his offense is very good, his defense is bottom 10 in the league. Average isn't good enough to pay $14m to AND to stop the development of big men who could be above average.

I would rather ship off Millsap. At least Jefferson can play the entire year.

It's easier when you take every other possession off...

I have to admit that I enjoy watching the young guys lose over watching the vets lose.

You can't think of any other good players who aren't winners? Zach Randolph and Carlos Boozer are perfect examples of this. Both are good basketball players but neither are born winners. They can HELP you win, but they won't ever be the driving force behind it. Always have to have a better player on the team. Big Al is a good player but he lacks the killer instinct that winners have. Big Al can't be your best player. He is our best player. To slight him just because we don't have anyone better than him seems ludicrous.
Bottom line is Big Al has been our best AND most consistent player this season. To say that the Jazz struggles are his fault is a cop out. The fault lies more with Harris, Miles and Hayward than Big Al. At least Al is consistent.
