Jazz Should Buy Out Bell!!

Post#1 » by Montanajazz » Fri Mar 16, 2012 3:56 pm

The Jazz should buy-out Bell immediately! He scored 2 points and is not the old defensive player he once was. This opens up more time for Burkes and Hayward to play the Two. Howard and Miles and Evans can play the three and the Jazz get to have all their youngs get real playing time for the rest of the season. Bell is over the hill and a distraction!!

KOC addressed this and said the Jazz wouldn't do it.

I agree partially. If the Jazz are going to make a playoff push which they seem to insist they are doing, I think you keep Bell hanging around...but only as an 11th-12th man. (Although it seems Bell would throw a hissy-fit about that role)

I thought Bell said he wouldn"t ask for a buy-out!

KOC Said they don't pay players for something they didn't earn. The Jazz don't normally buy out contracts just because.

Not to mention Bell is actually a "tradable asset" this offseason since he has an expiring contract. If you just buy him out, you probably don't get much of a cost reduction anyhow (what would motivate Bell to do that unless he knows he gets another contract) and can't trade his expiring deal to help make a trade work this summer.
