Tie game, 12 seconds left... what do you run?

Post#1 » by The59Sound » Mon Mar 26, 2012 2:08 am

This isn't really a response to the Hawks game (I thought the plays we drew up were fine... just didn't work), but it did get me thinking:

With time for one play, and the game on the line, who do you go to on this Jazz team? What do you run?

A Harris/Millsap pick-and-roll, which we've seen before, is a viable option.

Another one we've seen (though not enough to my eyes) is the Hayward/Jefferson pick-and-roll. Those two have surprisingly good chemistry, and Hayward's set him up with some money passes.

We've seen Paul Millsap Isos, with varying degrees of success.

There's always "dump it down to Big Al for ten fakes and a push shot" -- also with varying degrees of success.

Personally, I'd like to see the ball in Hayward's hands more -- though I have no real complaints about Devin's decision-making/play-making in those situations.

Burks ISO or Burks/Favors pick and roll.

You have to have the ball in a scorers to end the game and Burks is the only one we have.

Would you count John Stockton as a scorer? If he stepped onto a court at age 51, I'd still give it to him.

I've been dying to see a Burks Iso the entire season.
