Rule change? Offensive foul

It seems to only be suggested by the author but the title infers otherwise.

Check it out. What do you think and how should they change this?

I would hate to see a change here. They would fix the game better if they put an emphasis of calling the foul more correctly. The rules state "feet" leaving the floor, not "foot" and many offensive fouls are incorrectly called if the defensive player gets into position before the LAST foot leaves the floor. It should be called only if the defensive player gets into position before BOTH feet leave the floor. That back foot on the jump leaves the floor long before many get into position and the offensive foul is many times called.

I do however think they should assess a foul to the defending player for flopping. but this will create another emphasis of change to the game do they really want to have?

I like the idea of simply making it a turnover. You'd get a whole lot less flopping AND increase the speed and excitement of the game.

Wouldn't decrease flopping at all. People don't flop to get guys in foul trouble, they flop to turn opponent scoring opportunities into turnovers.

Heres an idea to speed things up.

Put a time limit from when the whistle blows to when the ball gets thrown in or shot from the free throw. It seems to take 2 minutes just to line the guys up or wait for the ref to touch the ball at throw in.

Why not just have the ref put the ball down on the side line and when the team is ready to go they can go. The refs will have to be more efficient to reporting the foul and the table refs will have to have some kind of responsibility to getting the call right from the signal before the reporting.

I actually dislike offensive flopping more than the attempts to take a charge, so no, I don't see any need to favor who barrells into defenders even more.
