Player of the crappy Game vs. Clips

Post#1 » by Neon Black » Sun Feb 24, 2013 12:07 pm

Some other facts:

It's not often that THREE of your starters score absolutely zero points in a game. Zilch. Nada. No Points. That's Marvin Williams, Randy Foye and Tinsley.

I sure as hell hope Marvin Williams doesn't pick up his option. But realistically, who's going to pay him more? If I were Ty I would seriously limit Marv's minutes in an underhanded attempt to get him to opt out. I'd rather see Hayward/Carrol eating up all those precious minutes.

+/-
Hayward +12
Millsap -11
Jefferson -15
Kanter +1
Burks +8

So anyways...Who ya got?

i think at this point of his career, no one will pay marvin MORE money per season. but he might opt out if he could get a long term deal somewhere for less money per season, similar to what richard jefferson did a few years ago. he opted out of the last year of his deal which was worth about 15M, to sign a longer contract with the spurs, which netted him 8.4M, 9.2M, 10.1M and 11M each year.

but i also find it hard to believe marvin will opt out. hopefully next year ty will better know how to use him. he should post up more.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

LOL at the thought that Marvin would opt out of a guaranteed $7.5M. He's been in the NBA for 8 seasons, a PER of 13.6 for his career, or 10.2 for the season, well below average NBA player. He's going to get a $3-5M per year, tops from here on out.

yes, which is why if his agents finds a deal for him of 5M per year for 4 years he should opt out.

That would guarantee the opposite, imo. No minutes = no money.

It's really a head scratcher why Ty won't bench Marvin for DMC. I mean, isn't 60 games enough to know that starting Marvin isn't working? I'm no coach but I'd make DMC my token starter and bring Marvin off the bench. Maybe that would work wonders for him, ala G-time. I hope Ty wasn't too stubborn and mix it up:

Starters: Tinsley-Hayward-DMC-Favors-Big Al
Bench: Foye-Burks-Marvin-Millsap-Kanter

Marvin needs to opt in, this year he has been horrible, if he opts in he could have atleast a decent season and maybe fetch an extra $10+M in a 4 year deal.
