Coaches
What NBA coaches out there would benefit our young team now? SVG, JVG, etc. What others can you guys think of? I think the Spurs main assistant coach would be great.
Ingles is cooked.

Re: Coaches
Anyone who can run the Spurs system is a must...it just works...
Not to complain but the Sloan system kind of worked, but it never brought us the championship. Now that we don't have sloan, we have a sort of sloan system with two very un-useful staff members at assisstan coach and head coach.

By putting the Spurs management with the Lakers/Bulls system would it create another championship team?

This. Shaw could be awesome.

Funny, I was going to ask about Shaw...he seems like he could actually do something for this team.
I mean the Bobcats wanted him and they had a nice set of young guys, we are the same but with countless options, our club is perfect for someone who wants and "can" win a championship.

Re: Coaches
I would like Shaw or Spurs assistant Budenholzer. I think we could get Budenholzer easier just because of DL, and I just lick my chops on how we would have a pseudo-Spurs ran team. A coach with a championship pedigree would be wonderful, if Pop can make average players mixed with 1 superstar and 2 all stars into a championship team, just imagine what Budenholzer could do with a core of Kanter, Favors, Burks, Hayward, and DeMarre.
Ingles is cooked.

Fo-Shizzle. Any real coach could take our Core-4 and make a championship team...

... just as soon as Lindsey signs a franchise player or two.

svg is your next coach.

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.
"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

Re: Coaches
I'd love to see the Jazz at least interview Butler's Brad Stevens. I've heard many people single him out as the college guy they see succeeding in the NBA. The latest to say so was Chad Ford:
I say we give it a shot.

Which NCAA head coach would you like to see get a shot in the NBA?
Chad Ford (1:21 PM)
Brad Stevens. First of all, he's a basketball genius. Second, he has the demeanor that I think would work in the pros. He motivates with reason, not with screaming and power plays. I think GMs are crazy not to bring him in.
I say we give it a shot.

Do we have any reason to believe Hornacek would be a good head coach other than we all really liked him as a player and he is a link to the stock/malone days?

No. The coaching ability of anyone on the current staff is suspect, IMHO.

I am not for or against Horny but this article does shed some light on the possibility if he could coach or not:

Re: Coaches
I don't put much credence in the fact that Hornacek could get us into our offense. In the olden days we had a superstar inside who other teams needed to constantly guard, Using that offensive scheme with lesser players produces the results we are seeing. The coach needs to be flexible enough to adapt his coaching, not change entirely, to available personnel.
Coaches brought up in the Sloan style tend to be more time substitution oriented rather than flow of the game.
I think it is time for a break from the past and start with some fresh new ideas,

Re: Coaches
Why are we judging potential coaches on anything other than their ability to coach? I don't care what a guy did before he became a coach.
