OMG. Randy Rigby Just Broke A Record
I'm sorry to open a new thread for this, but I just had to, after I heard his latest interview on 1280.
Here it is, decide for yourselves:
http://1280thezone.com/index.php/audio/listen/the_big_show_utah_jazz_president_randy_rigby1
As for the record he broke - I think you can guess which one it is after you listen to that podcast. It starts with a "B".

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Re: OMG. Randy Rigby Just Broke A Record
Not sure what record you're referring to, but he did state that this team was "exciting" and "played hard" every night. Most fans would disagree with that, but I guess if he goes on the radio each week and repeats it then it must be true.
Also: we have the best mascot, a great dunk team AND a stunt team. And don't forget the dancers. And come to fan appreciation night where "we'll be throwing a lot of things out" -- like the old jumbotron? Maybe Paul Millsap or Al Jefferson?

Re: OMG. Randy Rigby Just Broke A Record
the record i was referring to is the bull$hit record of course, for exactly the reasons you pointed out, and more.
it gets really flagrant when the reasons for why this team is exiting are the mascot, a great dunk team, a stunt team and dancers.
it gets even more flagrant that one of the reasons why this team is exciting is because of the OTHER TEAMS that comes to play here every night...

Re: OMG. Randy Rigby Just Broke A Record
I listened to part of his interview live yesterday and I don't recall him staying "one of the reasons why this team is exciting is because of the OTHER TEAMS that comes to play here every night...". What I heard is a response to a question about how they market the team--just the Jazz or focusing on the stars coming through town. He said the primary marketing is for the team. But they also let people know who is coming through because there are fans of other teams who have relocated and are interested in "their" teams on any given game. They aren't dumb enough to NOT market to whoever might be buying a ticket to a game. (can't get to the link from work to verify)

I disgusts me how much commentators on KSL during Jazz games suck up to the franchise. "Oh this player was sick," "at least they played hard," "ooh they might make the playoffs!," "don't worry, we're a young team." It's an ass kissing marathon. I'm seriously considering writing an editorial in the tribune bashing the "pseudo-rebuilding" strategy thus far and Corbin, simply because no one else in the media here will mention it. I don't listen to the radio, and couldn't pick Randy Rigby out of a lineup mostly because I assume they're all just a propaganda arm of the organization.

what you are referring to happened in the first part of the conversation. no problem there. then, rigby was asked about the jazz message the jazz sends to the fans in term of how the team is in both a rebuilding mode and a win now mode, and was given a metaphor about how the jazz is a stock where you buy low now and it will pay dividends in the future.
his response was that he agreed with the metaphor and went along with it, but said it is already paying dividends now to the fans because of they get to see talent FROM OTHER TEAMS come here to play. so it basically pays dividends to support this jazz team because you get to see the other teams play...
it's in the 7:50 mark.

What do you mean by "commentators on KSL during Jazz games?"

"I'll never forget that time I took my family to the Jazz game and saw them lose by 45 to the Rockets. Those tickets were the best investment I made in 2013. My family will cherish the memories of that exciting game for years to come."

Ah...I probably turned off the car right before the part in question then. Thanks.

Like the halftime and post-game guys, and even the play by play guys. Maybe it's not KSL, idk, I don't watch much TV.
They're the 90 minute version of this kid (:20): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfvVlYEiYws

Yeah, not KSL. That's why I was confused. ROOT Sports does the TV.
