Round 1, Game 4: Utah Jazz vs Dallas Mavericks

Post#1 » by Inigo Montoya » Sat Apr 23, 2022 3:44 pm

It's been a disappointing series thus far. We've seen and identified the problems, let's see if the Snyder makes some adjustments and if the players play with some fire. Still no word on Doncic as far as I know, but at this point I don't think the Mavs need him.

I really feel we'll win... but I felt too in game 2 and 3.

I don't think it's fair to Quin to finish in that way (because probably is going to be his final games if he isn't able to win vs a doncicless Mavs)

Forrest was re-evaluated yesterday and now they are saying he is out at least another week. I was interested in seeing whether he could slow down Brunson, but that it isn't going to happen.

Doncic is listed green (likely) GTD as of 11am MT.

We are watching effort. The only thing I ask.

Trying Bojan and Mitchell can stay in front of their guys.

I thought Gobert, Bogey, and Clarkson played hard and busted their butts.

The did, and we barely won..... That doesn't say much about our chances....... I'm really down on this team, even after this win.....

Oh, I agree. Just wanted to give credit where credit was due tonight.

I think the Mavs win in 6. The Jazz got lucky tonight.

Utah played a good defensive game, but the offensive side was rough. Our FT % was way low, our 3pt % was way low. Mitchell couldn't score most the game. I think the effort was in the right place tonight but this definitely wasn't our best game. We can build on this and they will need to if they want to win because game 5 is going to be easier to take then game 7 in Dallas.

Look on the bright side. Utah had some stretches where the team played really good D. They held Dallas to under 100 points for the second time, this time with Doncic playing.

Mitchell didn't force up a difficult, contested shot and miss to try to win the game. Instead, he passed the ball to Gobert for an easy dunk. Mitchell assisting someone else for a high percentage shot attempt in this situation is progress imo.

With Clarkson getting good looks and having a good game, Coach Snyder rewarded him with extra minutes. Coach didn't stay glued to the usual minute formula and made this in game minutes adjustment that helped get the win.

Not putting conley was the right decision.

Next one is not to start him and Royce.

There has been a noticeable difference in the effort level that was on display. Much better. Bojan stood out to me. I think we still dodged a bullet in this game but at least we could see some sense of urgency and a high effort level, which is something, I guess.

Thank you Bogey for putting in real defensive effort against both Luca and Brunson. With that said, how sad is it that a guy putting in real defensive effort is so noticeable that he gets multiple standing ovations and the crowd chanting his name?

Gobert's post game interview was amazing, and was telling about that man's state of mind. He puts up with more than any one player should have to, and it spewed out in one brutally honest statement.

Happy we have more Jazz games, happy they won despite shooting woes. Not so sure it matters in the big picture for this team, though.

Missed his post game comments, are they located somewhere to watch now?

Bogey was incredible. His game face and tenacity were jumping off the floor, through the camera lens right into the living room! I've never seen that from him for an entire game, it was great! Hope others can join in the fray.
