Dante got to the paint a lot more (and then had a hyper-extended knee and didn't play the 2nd half) and made good passes. Gobert made 13\14 FTs.

I wouldn't say you missed anything, though. The game itself was messy with plenty of TOs on both sides. The Suns were in disarray (17 TOs) and so were the Jazz (22 TOs). No flow and plenty of inferences and stops galore, with the teams foul 25 times. Each.

Damn... 14FTs? Did they target him or were those in the flow of the game?

Great to get that first win under our belt with the new crew even if it is just preseason. And without two of our stars to boot. Gobert was phenomenal as was Lyles IMO. And I know I've been a little critical of Gobert recently - looked sure-handed tonight though, back to defending the paint and what about that free throw shooting? And don't let me forget Mr Exum. Tonight was that aha moment where I said to myself, yes he was worthy of the hype and he will be a star for this team. I don't know about you but I had my reservations what with no collegiate background, his rather mediocre first year, then the ACL thing. But I feel good about this team now. And as much of a buzz as Booker has created I'm very glad that we took Lyles ahead of him cause as Boler said, "it's gonna be real hard to keep this kid off the floor". It's like the quiet before the storm - electricity in the air cause the real Jazz are back.

Flow of the game kind of fouls, if the word "flow" can be used in such a game.

Gobert and the big men on Suns were going at it. Could fouls called on both sides for throwing elbows and shoving. It was great. If Gobert keeps that type of play up he will get his max for sure.

I just finished watching the game this morning and I really hope Exum's injury is something small because he looked solid and made some really nice passes. The one where he went baseline and hit Gobert was extremely impressive.

Lyles has picked up this year where he left off last year and I love what I have seen these first couple of games.

Withey had one of the worst games I have ever seen a professional player have. He needs to pull his head out of that Playboy bunny's a$$.

I read some Suns blogger tweet that Exum couldn't hang with Booker.

Read on Twitter

then when Zach Harper challenged him, he stated as a reason for his tweet that Booker had 7 pts in the first 8 minutes.

So I watched the game to see what all the fuss was about. LOL. How are those people being PAID to talk about basketball? HOW? Dante finished 2/4 for 5pts, 4ast in just 13 mins and was blowing past Booker on a whim on O. Can you guess how many of the 7 pts of Booker in the first 8 minutes were with Dante guarding him? Yep you guessed it - ZERO. Booker had had 0 pts with Exum guarding him until the end of the second quarter, when he made his sweet baseline move... for which I give him props, especially finishing with Gobert around the basket. But that doesn't change that Booker had absolutely nothing going while Exum was guarding him. They tried to post him up against Dante. LOL! 4 times!!! Earl Watson might not be a particularly smart coach after all... The first time he tried turnaround jumper with Exum in his face. I don't think he expected the length... bad miss. The second time Booker tried to establish position on the left block at around 12 feet... Dante bodied him out to the 3p line. LOL... FAIL. 3d time they called a foul on Exum on the entry pass(good call). 4th time they called another foul on Dante on the Booker move to the inside which was a horrible call. There was no foul at all and was perfectly defended by Exum. All in all, Booker was 1/3 for 2 pts for the whole time Exum was on him. Yeah, sure... he can't hang. Let the fiesta of delusion continue...

The best part about this is that he tweeted 2-3 minutes into the game where nothing had happened

Ya, it was pretty clear to me while watching that Exum was giving Booker fits. His length, quickness and strength really gave him problems.

I'm still not worried about Joe Johnson. He's just too good to not work out and we need to keep in mind that he's playing an entirely different role then he's played his entire NBA career. He's practically never come off the bench before and never been the 5+ option on a team. I also think the team has to learn how to give him the ball in better places. Our entry passes to him have been subpar at best, especially when the defender plays on the high side. The spacing when he's been on the floor has been suboptimal too for where he's trying to go to work at. I've heard multiple times from multiple people that Joe has often looked like the best player on the floor during training camp scrimmages so I think he'll get it figured out.

It was soooo nice to see Exum be a little aggressive going to the paint last night. After the first game, I was seriously wondering if I wanted to pay for League Pass again this year.

I'm not worried about Johnson either but Ingles has looked so good that he may steal a lot of his minutes regardless of how he plays.

Sources: NBA, union optimistic new CBA deal likely finalized within several weeks

Interesting! That's good... I wonder what each side will give up.

I expected it to be a short negotiation. Chris Paul is now the president of the NBPA. How could you expect him to get past the second round of negotiations?

Really? Why do you think Joe has played so well?

I've been pretty underwhelmed by his performances. He's been solid, but nothing great not terrible. Still looks like the backup to Joe to me.

I'm honestly interested to hear your reasons on this thinking.

Not trying to defend anyone here, but I also thought that Ingles has been playing very well. He made a couple of steals in the first game with a finish at the rim and if my memory serves also had a nice steal against Phoenix. I posted in this thread after the Blazer's game that I thought he was the star of the game. As I said, not meaning to get in the middle of this, just an opinion.

He's too slow imo and compromises what we are trying to do on defense. Hopefully he is under 10 mpg in the regular season.
