Send him on the first thing smoking while his value is high before he gets seriously injured and has no value.

This is thickest bull what i have EVER read in my 38 yrs lifetime.

Same thing could've been said with Curry his first years in the league with his ankle. Multiple rings later I'm betting they're glad they keep him. Not giving up on him yet.

Curry’s ankle issues lasted 3 season and he was fixed after that (even then he didn’t miss no where near as many games as Lauri).

Lauri has missed a lot of games in all 5 seasons (5!) due to the back, ankles, shoulders, calf, quadriceps, hip and even a couple injuries that no one knew what was wrong with him. Hard to fix a guy who hurts almost everything. Not even close to an equal comparison.

I remember they said he might never be able to play and he'd missed the whole season and most the next. Lead to higher draft picks and the team we've seen. Championships. Warriors talked about moving him because they did't know if he'd ever recover. I was high on Exum and he just keep getting hurt and the jazz finally moved him. Now we have the stud Jordan the flame thrower. what a trade. But you never know. I'm leaning towards keeping him for now.

Lauri has done quite a lot of work during the last two summers to get back to the ”small forward body type” instead of the ”hulking center” the braindead bulls front office wanted him to be.

Hopefully it’ll help with the durability also. Should be less strain on the legs/feet at least.

Chicago had huge issues overall with injuries. Their fanbase felt like the old FO didnt do enough to make it better. It was all the time with injuries everyone was out longer than first told.

Markkanen has not had big issues, but minor **** and few out of bad luck that would have made anyone sit out from it.

Lauri absolutely has one and exteremely infuriating bad habit to disappear after when he's played one or several good games.
Especially when Lauri is hot he plays like Dirk but when he's exhausted and tired he plays like some freaking G league bench scrub.
Those 10-19 point games are trash if Lauri's serious goal truly is a allstar game.

As a player and shooter Lauri cannot be so depend on that does Conley play or not.
And seriously said Lauri's whole game cannot being up to missing one player
but this can be said whole Jazz team not only Lauri.

Right now it looks truly that Jazz surprising good start in October and early November was lucky fluke.
And it happend only because other teams seriously underestimated Jazz and Conley was running offensive game.
Now when Conley is out Jazz games are going downhill and losing streak is more a rule than exception to the rule. Jazz honeymoon is coming to end and it is matter of the time when serious tanking will start.

In the last five consecutive games Conley has been out, counting Conley's 9 min game as an OUT, Markkanen is averaging 20 ppg on 15.4 fga with 8.8 rebs, 2.8 orebs, 2 ast, 2.8 tovs and team high plus 4.6. That is still pretty good and well above his past season averages. Prior to Conley going out, Markkanen was averaging just two points more, 22.2 ppg on 15.4 fga.

70.5% of Markkanen's made field goals have been assisted for the season. I am not sure how that compares to an average forward. Jerami Grant averages a similar 21.5 ppg on 14.5 fga with 70.2% of his made field goals assisted. But superstar Jayson Tatum averages 30.5 ppg on 20.5 fga with just 55.9% of his made field goals assisted. Superstar Joel Embiid averages 32.3 ppg on 20.2 fga with just 58.7% of his made field goals assisted. By contrast, superstar Karl Malone averaged 27.4 ppg on 19.2 fga in 1997, with 77.7% of his made field goals assisted, and he won the MVP. Thank you John Stockton!

Markkanen doesn't look like a number one player so far in terms of frequently going out and creating his own basket, but he moves very well without the ball and he is an excellent finisher who benefits a lot from playing with good passing guards who are looking for him.

All Jazz players' % assisted made baskets for season:

Lauri did play through it against the Suns after colliding with Ayton, so hopefully it’s not that serious.

He is fourth in total minutes played so far by the way ;)

I see the Lauri apologists finally moved over from the Bulls board.
I've always liked him but the fact he has to be assisted on over 70% of his baskets tells you he is in Robin territory and not a Batman.

Well as a big he needs to be fed in the right places but yeah what's stopping him from full on superstardom is the self creation aspect. If he had that or develops a decent enough mid range game for that then he'll be competing for MVP with someone like Giannis. Right now he's competing to be like a 2nd tier all star. Which is still like 3 steps up from great role player from years past.

After a slow start to the season on 3p%, Markkanen is now up to 39.5%. Over the last ten games, Markkanen is knocking down threes at 46.3%. I wonder if one contributing factor to his slow start on 3pt% could have been him getting in rhythm for the Euro three ball line and then having to readjust back to the NBA three ball line.

Markkanen is at an impressive 64.8% TS% for the season.

I don't think the story is fully written on Markkanen. Probably most coaches say this about their youngish players, but I saw an interview with Coach Hardy a week or two ago where he emphasized that we don't know what the ceiling is for Markkanen yet.

Craziest thing is he's still being underutilized. If the guards look for him in the second half how much they do in the first half.... I could see a hot stretch from him averaging 30ppg.

I also think if everything goes right with Conley back, Lauri can get a 50 piece this season if he's the sole focus during a game

Return to Utah Jazz
