This looks long, but it is actually like 2-3 "normal" paragraphs, filled mostly by standings and charts!
West Coast Facts:
-13 out of 15 teams in WC, are good enough for Playoff spot. However only 3 out of 15 teams in EC are above .500.
-Only 2 teams in West aren't looking for playoffs as of right now, all but the 2 in WC have been riding .500's most the season! Lakers and Grizzles (two playoff teams from last year) are the "worst teams looking for playoffs".
-This all means 5 teams who are looking to playoffs won't make it! Right now it is Mavs, Wolves, Pelicans, Grizzles, and Lakers. Pelicans and Wolves haven't been a "playoff team" in several years, and have little chance.
-So, WC has 7 "playoff teams" for last 4 spots in West. Mavs, Lakers and Grizzles, are obviously talented playoff teams, and with the current 5th-8th spots (Rockets, Nuggets, Suns and Warriors) they make up the 7!
-That is 11 teams in WC who are without a doubt going after a playoff run, and I would say only 4 are for sure going, Blazers, Spurs, Thunder and Clippers, aka the top 4 spots.
-In the past 5 years, 8th place had this many wins:
2008- WC: 50 wins - EC: 37 wins
2009- WC: 48 wins - EC: 39 wins
2010- WC: 50 wins - EC: 41 wins
2011- WC: 46 wins - EC: 37 wins
2012- WC: 45 wins - EC: 43 wins
2013- WC: 45 wins - EC: 38 wins
*(In 2012, I added wins they would have had if they finished the season with their ending percentage)
-How many +.500 WC teams missed Playoffs:
2008- 2 teams (Warriors and Blazers)
2009- 1 team (Suns)
2010- 1 team (Rockets)
2011- 1 team (Rockets)
2012- 2 teams (Rockets and Suns)
2013- 2 teams (Jazz and Mavs)
East Coast:
-If you take away the Nets, Knicks, and Bulls (teams who are looking for a playoff spot, the NYC teams have no 1st round anyways), if you take them from the worst in east, that leaves 4 teams! These 4 are not even looking for a playoff spot, these 4 are Bucks, 76ers, Magic, and Raptors!
-Of the top 8 teams in EC right now, Bobcats and Cavs are the only 2 who might become a real threat to bottom 3 spots, so I am counting Cavs as team #5 in East, Big Al will easily got to playoffs!
The Lottery:
That means, as of right now, there are for sure 7 teams including Jazz, fighting for a bottom 3 pick with a possible "up to" 10 teams, who at least are after a bottom 6 spot. They are all after Wiggins, Parker, or Randle, but if they don't get one of them, the next 3 will still get consolation prizes of Smart, Exum, or Embiid!
One of the bottom 3 in standings will not get a top 3 spot, and two might not get top 3 spot, depending on how many non-bottom 3 teams get bleeping lucky!! Only 1st worst is guaranteed 4th or better, 2nd and 3rd can easily get 4th or 5th pick, which is what they have gotten a lot of in past 5 years!
We could be unlucky like this:
-In 2012, 1st got 2nd, 2nd got 3rd, and 3rd got 4th pick! (4th got 1st)
-In 2011, 1st got 2nd, 2nd got 4th, and 3rd got 5th pick! (8th got 1st, and 6th got 3rd)
-In 2010, 1st got 3rd, 2nd got 4th, and 3rd got 5th pick! (5th got 1st, and 6th got 2nd)
-In 2009, 1st got 4th, 2nd got 5th, and 3rd got the 1st pick! (4th got 3rd, and 6th got 2nd)
-In 2008, 1st got 2nd, 2nd got 4th, and 3rd got the 3rd pick! (9th got 1st)
The Tank:
So even if we do make bottom 3 at end of year, we might not even get a #3 pick! I just hope all the people who beg for more losses hope we do in fact get #1 worst! Cause I hope they realize that we can end up with a 5th pick from bottom 3 standings, and that tanking might not be worth Exum, especially if some bleeping 6th place team gets 2nd and Parker, or some 8th place team gets 1st and Wiggins!!!! That is reality!
Non-Playoff teams who are not looking for playoffs, in order of worst to best:
1-Jazz
2-Bucks
3-Kings-
4-Magic
5-Philly
6-Raptors
7-Cavs
