Is it wrong that I’m at the point where I hope both the slamming and the blocking are done on another team?

Jazz should trade Rudy Gobert to the Pels for Valanciunas, Murphy and 2 Lakers picks.

I’d do that trade (but I also love Murphy)

I don't see how Rudy fits with Zion at all

Defensively, Zion needs Rudy behind him. Offensively, I don't think Valanciunas really fits any better. I get it if you want a real stretch big, like Myles Turner, but a team with CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson is going to have a hard time defending out on the floor.

But they also have Brandon Ingram, Herb Jones, and Jose Alverado. Plus, if they want Turner, they certainly have the assets to get him. I'd love to get the 8th pick + stuff in a Gobert trade if that's the direction we went, but I don't think he makes sense on New Orleans. They have to think about how to maximize Zion, and on offense, Rudy would clog up the lane too much. They would be better off with someone who can help cover on D but still stretches the court.

Zion hardly ever plays so that shouldn't be a problem.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Obviously New Orleans is building a roster that fits with Zion, that's why they added Val, so it is a problem so long as they have him.

Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
We should include Quin in discussion of possible trades with a return. Right now there are all manner of rumuors regarding Quin, and it is difficult to know which rumuors are correct, but one of the rumuors is that Quin wants out, whereas the Jazz front office is on record saying they want to keep Quin. Quin has one more season on his contract. The Jazz have reportedly offered Quin contract extensions that he turned down, though I am not clear whether that was the Ainge front office making the extension offers or pre-Ainge or both.
Trader Ainge famously traded Coach Doc Rivers from the Boston Celtics to the Los Angeles Clippers for a future first round pick. It's a long shot, but I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that Ainge could trade Quin to the Lakers or another team for a draft pick. Probably a second round draft pick is the most we could get for Quin though. Coach Rivers had considerable value at the time from having won a championship over a Laker team led by Phil Jackson and Kobe.
The archived article below says Ainge initially made a deal to trade Coach Rivers for active players, but Commissioner Stern then ruled that teams are not allowed to trade active players for a coach.

If Q wants out, why keep him another year so he can walk for nothing? The standard has been set, so even if he is only worth a 2nd round pick, better than no pick and either firing him or dealing with a coach who is mentally checked out. What kind of development will the players see? Trade him, get at least something in return, then get your future coach who can possibly take them further in the playoffs than Q has.

I just listened to The Athletic's Tony Jones on a May 4th ESPN interview. He doesn't think Quin is going anywhere. He also pointed out that Quin has a coaches' option for another season beyond next season. With regard to players, he thinks building around Donovan is a bigger front office priority than building around Gobert, but thinks both could be back. He is about 50/50 on Gobert's chances to be back. He further said we need to get bigger and lengthier between Mitchell and Gobert --- that we are too small. Said Donovan had a particularly weak defensive year and needs to bring a little more on the defensive end, as well as get his shooting percentages higher. He said Conley is "aging out" and that Bogey may be nearing that point as well.

Trading a coach for something is a very rare occurrence. I wouldn't bet on it happening, though Ainge did manage to pull this kind of deal off. But still, it's not really a trend, it hardly ever happens, and if all we get is a 2nd round pick (those are easy to acquire), I wouldn't insist on it, and let Snyder go wherever he wants.

Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
I think the Blazers are in a difficult position with Damian Lillard. He's about to make a ton of money, and he's got a few years left to play at a high level. That's why I could see the Blazers making a play for Gobert. If the Blazers can piece together Grant and Gobert next to Lillard, while keeping Simons, that's a 2nd-round playoff team at least.
I'm interested in the Blazers' lottery pick this year. That range could get Jalen Duren, Tari Eason, Keegan Murray or AJ Griffin.
Bledsoe would probably need to be included in the deal, so either he or Mike Conley would need to be moved to a third team. Bledsoe isn't fully guaranteed until June 29, which is a week after the draft.

What kind of return value would Utah be looking for concerning Conley ?

Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
Assuming that the Jazz run back Quin, DM and RG and try to improve around the edges:
Hornets- Conley and Dok
Pacers- Hayward
Jazz- Brogdon, perhaps a 2nd and/or cash from the Hornets for saving them $ and giving them a center that they might want.

I might consider this if Detroit gives the Jazz their top-7 lottery pick and Golden State gives the Jazz 2 future 1sts.

Any. If the Jazz don't have to give up value to move Conley, then it's a win for the Jazz.

Gobert is worth more than that, especially as Grant is a free agent next summer.
