It isn't easy to get excited about a center prospect when you have Gobert, but I have my eye on Daniel Oturu as being the backup big and maybe eventual replacement starting center. Not as flashy as a wing or guard prospect, but I like him.

I'm at the Ute game and I really like the potential of Jaden McDaniels. Long wiry athlete that is really good defensively and a ton potential offensively.

I'm not sure why Jalen Smith from Maryland isn't getting more draft hype. He has elite skills for the modern day 4 as far as I can tell. Last year his weakness was the 3 ball but he has improved that dramatically and it is now a strength. Imagining his length defensively with Rudy would be something special to watch. I have to imagine that if he keeps up his current level of play he will move up draft boards into the teens at least.

I agree. Exactly the type of player the Jazz are missing right now.

If we are not able to secure a bigger defensive wing in a trade/FA IMO it becomes kind of imperative to take one in the draft. I'm usually against drafting for need, but it's kind of shocking how vulnerable we are against wing scorers.

I'm really hoping that Oni can help to fill that role starting next year. He has the length and athleticism to bother perimeter players and he is extremely strong for his size. He has struggled shooting this year but I saw enough of him in college and like his shooting stroke so I'm pretty confident he can become a high 30's to low 40's 3pt shooter down the line.stitches wrote:If we are not able to secure a bigger defensive wing in a trade/FA IMO it becomes kind of imperative to take one in the draft. Yeah I hope Oni pans out, but I’d like to add another in the draft. I like Devin Vassel’s 2-way potential.

It's easy to overlook how important it is to be NBA sized and on par athletically.
I think JWF is going to be better than Shabazz Napier. He's more athletic and a more versatile scorer. Not a true PG though. Still probably a backup.

I still like Jordan Nwora in the back half of the 1st round. He's shooting 41% from 3pt on 6 attempts per game, 81% at the line. Slightly plus athleticism at 6'7"/ 225 lbs. He can pass a bit. I'm confident he's a rotation player and probably better. He could be comparable to Dillon Brooks offensively if things go well, and he's a bit tougher and plays harder defensively than Brooks.

We can't afford to take Royce off the floor when Bojan plays, since Bojan is a limited defender and rebounder. Taking Royce off the floor in favor of Conley makes us that much smaller and weaker on the boards.
I also think that Brantley, given his length and toughness, could help our defense just by getting wide and being an obstacle to guys that want to drive.

Definitely need better wing defenders. I also think we need better defensive playmakers. It's hard to defend when you create zero turnovers.
Paul Reed is the only prospect in our range that I found interesting.

Cassius Stanley and Scottie Lewis are interesting to me. Hyper athletic, and we have great player development. Why not take players with big upside?

Neemias Queta would be a great project big. Not sure if he leaves this year from the Aggies, but he has some great qualities both on Offense and Defense.

Re: NBA 2020 Draft Prospects Thread
This is the year I've watched the least college basketball since forever so forgive my ignorance. My scouting right now consists of watching highlight clips so take that for what it's worth...
What do you guys think of Aaron Nesmith from Vanderbilt? He seems like a sharpshooter on the wing. How is his defense? Can he be a 3&D wing?
Nwora seems to still be in our range from what I see in a couple of mocks? His defensive numbers don't seem great, though... can he defend?
Ochai Agbaji seems like an athletic freak with some defensive potential, but his shooting projection doesn't look great. Does he have any fans here?
CJ Elleby?
Devin Vassell?

Check out Paul Reed. If Brantley is the Zion of the Colonial League, Reed is the Siakam of the big east.

Looks interesting... shot looks a bit funky, but he might have potential there. Again... this is me doing boxscore and highlights scouting. His defensive numbers look real nice too...don't entirely see the off the dribble and on ball game that Siakam has...

I like what I've seen of Sadiq Bey at Villanova. He has a decent combination of size, skill level and feel for the game. He's an adequate athlete for his position, but could add a bit of strength. He's not super explosive, but has enough of a handle and body control. His shot release is a little low.

Rayjon Tucker showing a few flashes. If he did this in NBA Summer League, people would be a bit excited.

He's awfully skinny. He's probably at least two years of development away. He's talented though. The more I watch him, the more I like the idea of drafting him. He has some star potential. He needs to add 15 or 20 lbs at a minimum.

Stanley looks amazing as a slasher and spot-up shooter. Lewis looks okay, reminds me a bit of Terrance Ferguson at first glance.
