As their starter, he averaged 16.3 ppg on 11.1 fga with 14.2 rebs/game and 3.1 blocks per game in 31.3 mpg. He led the league in blocks that season and was second in total rebs to Rudy. I am hopeful that he can still play and the dysfunctional Kings just didn't get the best out of him.
I used to be a big Whiteside fan but the reality is that he is the ultimate empty stats guy. It is strange because you look at the stats and think this guy is great but ask heat and blazers fans what they think of Whiteside and they will tell you he sucks.

Whiteside does have a bit of mid range and this is why we signed Rudy Gay. He is our small ball center
I feel like you guys have some unrealistic expectations when it comes to Rudy Gay. The guy is going to be 35 and entering his 16th season. There is a very good chance that he has injury issues this year and at best we have to load manage him. It is just stupid to go 3 deep with centers that can't stretch the floor rather than trying to get a couple stretch bigs to go with Rudy and Udoka.

Conley/Forrest/Butler
Mitchell/Clarkson/Hughes
O'Neale/Ingles/Oni
Bogdanovic/Gay/Morgan/Brantley
Gobert/Whiteside/Azubuike

Looks good now I think. Here's to hoping JC steps it up on D and can slide to 3, but I highly doubt it. And hoping Oni as well

With the team's construction I think they'll run it back one more time with the same defensively system: funnel everyone to the center

Danny Green is still available, might be a good pick up on the min.

I highly doubt he goes for minimum

Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Philly, Golden State, Clippers, Miami, Milwaukee can all offer him more than minimum

Damn there goes James Johnson. Really wanted him to be in that Joe Ingles mold who can facilitate, score, but can defend 3 through 5 and is still passable defending 1 and 2.

Now that is the ideal small ball C

So a poorer man's Rudy Gay? Only thing James Johnson has on gay is he's tougher

Sure you can say that, but I'm not saying Johnson over Gay. Both could've been had and bank on Udoka and Morgan for depth. Having 2 versatile bigs that can play alongside each other and be able to play inside out and make plays and shoot from the outside? Lots of combinations possible

I read Markkanen wants out of Chicago. Trade target? A seven foot PF that can shoot the three and possibly be a weak side defender would be nice. Assuming he isn't hot garbage on defense.

He's not a good weak side defender....... I don't think there's anyone the Bulls would be interested in getting from the Jazz in a sign and trade......

The bulls want to win now this season so I think they would be very interested in Ingles or Bojan in a sign and trade. I would gladly do either trade for a 24yr old Markkanen.

If he is not a good weak side defender is he at least serviceable as a center? I really have very little first hand knowledge of his game.

A backup center who can turn the team into a five out offense might be nice.

Ok, so I have been watching Exum play in the Olympics, and .... well, he's, 6'6", long, athletic, plays d, can be used in 3 positions, and still is only 26 years old. We all know his injury history and shooting issues, but has shot really well from 3 in the Olympics. Someone worth looking at for the minimum as deep bench guy, not a rotation regular? There are worse options for a team that could use a 3rd PG and wing defense. He gives both.

Let the destroying of the idea begin! lol
