Seems like the Jazz are finally taking the whole tanking thing seriously.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Apparently the Lakers tried to trade for Kessler and were turned down by the Jazz. They offered Russell + multiple first round picks:

"While our Jovan Buha recently reported the Lakers have interest in Kessler, a Jazz source indicated the possible framework of a deal —D’Angelo Russell and multiple first-round picks — would not be of interest," Amick and Hollinger said. "Though, there could be other Lakers iterations that might be of more interest.

I love Walker, but there's no way those were unprotected picks.

I think Cody Williams is having just about the worst season I've ever seen in NBA history from a rotation player.

Possible but that’s ok. Right now he’s helping us to lose games and maybe in 2-3 years he’ll be helping us to win games. Let’s see how he develops…

I just found the perfect OST for your season.
You can get pumped listening to it after the end of (almost) every game.

Cody needs
30-50 pounds of muscle
Significant athleticism gains
Complete jumpshot transformation
We'll check back in three years, but his jumpshot form getting much worse has made his already poor odds of making it in the league even worse.

So at the moment, I'd say:
** Keyonte should play off the ball most the time. Offensively, he's fine, but he's quite lackadaisical on defense.
** Lauri is a face-up 4.
** Cody is a project.
** Flip is a nice 3rd big, but he's not enough of a defensive presence to be the starting 5.
** I don't get the sense that the Jazz are fully committed to Walker Kessler long term.
** Collier is fine as a backup PG. He needs to make some shots.
** I think the Jazz would trade Sexton, but they like his insane energy and work ethic to motivate the rest of the team.
** John Collins is fine as a veteran presence while the Jazz are rebuilding.
** Brice is a good floor-spacer at the wing, but his on-ball creation is too slow and too turnover prone to translate from college. He's probably going to be a bench player.
** The Jazz probably have the worst playmaking in the entire league right now. They badly need a legit lead initiator.

Lakers game is to try and trade Top 4 Protected Picks like they did in the early 2010's when they didn't have to convey a pick at all when they had 3 consecutive #2 picks for DeAngelo Russell, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball. Of course, to finish #2 they were playing their South Bay Lakers an awful lot because they "wanted to see what we got."

Apparently the Jazz are sending Collier to the d-league. Makes me wonder if it's to give more playing time to Mills, Svi and Clarkson in an attempt to trade them. Hopefully it won't cause the Jazz to win unnecessary games.
I could understand sending Williams there because he did look unready and like a total space cadet but Collier seemed fine in the backup role.

I wonder if it's managing egos. It's hard for Williams to be too upset if every rookie plays down there for a while.

It might be managing egos of the vets. Williams should feel relieved to be sent to the d-league because he was performing so badly and showing he wasn't ready for that level yet. He could regain some confidence there where it's easier to play better.

What are you guys thinking about Keyonte George? Not gonna lie, the question is motivated by a dynasty league, but I have kept him for +1 year now, and it aint looking too bright I think, but I do see flashes of a pretty good combo guard. Whats the verdict? I hoped he would prove good enough to get "the keys", and I still hope so..

The front office seems to be high on him. Fans are divided. Some (myself included) see him as a Jordan Clarkson type, others see him as Jamal Murray. He does show flashes of being really good down the line but he also has many inefficient outings. Really hard to say for sure how he'll end up but he does seem to have a good head on his shoulders.

Random Jazz stats: Kessler (#1) and Collins (#7) are top ten in TS% for NBA starters. I filtered for 14 or more starts to capture Collins.

I think he's going to settle into the role and usage of a guy like Tyler Herro. He should be a 20 ppg guy, but he's being forced into a point guard role that he's not really suited for. Another comp might be Anfernee Simons.
