Actually, I think they would include players. They can't pay all of the ones they have anyway. Might as well move the most expensive player on the roster since they are stacked with a lot of talent at his position anyway.

Good point. I still think it takes the SAC pick + stuff(maybe player) to get high up in this draft. Especially having in mind how bad next year's draft looks right now.

You know what I find comical is that Ainge bashed Utah for not having enough good talent around Hayward yet he's trying to get Gobert-lite.

Now what's going to be even more comical is if Ainge trades Hayward for Gobert-lite.

What is the protection on the Kings' pick? It's insane how well Ainge managed to stack his team with assets, both in players and picks.

Anyway, the more I look at it, the more I like my proposed trade of Hayward for Matthews+#5. The Mavs get an all-star level player who is locked for 3 more years, and the Celtics get the #5 pick and save a lot of money both straight away and both at the end of next season, while freeing up space for their young forwards in Brown and Tatum. And Matthews can still contribute too. Seems like a good move for both teams.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

top 1 protected. if it is 1 it goes to Philly and Boston gets Philly's pick instead.

So it may not be worth risk for a team if Sacramento is still terrible.

The Celtics certainly have the assets to get a top 6 pick but it definitely won't be Hayward. Until he can show that he is the same player post injury he is considered a bad contract.

The Mavs would never do that. They may take on Hayward for free but definitely not including a top 5 pick.

I can see Dallas trading down and to try and accumulate assets. But Boston only has the late First pick this year. That’s a hard sell. Boston would have to include multiple high pick or a good young player. Tatum isn’t going anywhere. So it would have to be Brown. I just don’t see it this year.

I don't think it's possible for me to dislike a team more than the Warriors.

Also, that JR play was the dumbest play of all time. I feel for LeBron. He had to slowly watch his idiot teammate dribble away their only chance at winning.

Actually, my peak hatred of the Warriors came when they were down by 20, injured Kawhi, went on to win, and then celebrated arrogantly like a champion who had just one a huge title fight. Nothing will top that.

They are a team of guys who like to play on easy mode, handicap their opponents, type in some more cheat codes, and then wait until victory is secured to talk a ton of ****.

Which is why no one will care when LeBron forms a new Super team to beat them. Whether it’s Houston or LA pulls something out of their ass and gets LeBron to team up with Kawhi and PG. Everyone will enjoy watching the Warriors be toppled.

This the last thing this league needs. I can't stand the warriors either but their success is down to making good management decisions along with a bit of luck (Currys contract). Its a shame Durant decided to ride the coat tales of their success but the NBA needs to find a solution to stop this from happening, Lebron creating another super team simply adds to the problem and makes it impossible for well run organisations like the Jazz to have a shot at winning a championship.

I actually think it’s exactly why the league wants. I also think it’s what might finally get the owners to get off their ass and do something about players teaming up.

The only people who dislike super teams are hard core fans. They are going to watch anyways, so all Silver needs to do is give the illusion that he cares.

The NBA is doing better than ever because it’s drawing the casual fans. He’s not going to address the conference disparity and he’s not going to address the Warriors because it means LeBron, Curry, and Durant in the finals.

Casual fans don’t give a damn if a franchise like the Jazz have a chance. The NBA does not either. What matters is the bottom line, and that means as many big markets and superstars as possible.

RE: CLE vs GS, Game 1

Hill choked (hey, at least he wasn't "injured") and Smith is a bone head. But at the end of the day, that was the about as bad & lopsided of an officiating job as I've ever seen in a Finals Game. If I were T.Lue I would have blasted the refs without a care in the world, and taken whatever fine was given. It would have never come down to Hill/Smith if the game would have been called even close to even, IMO.

Yes, and I was surprised that the charge call against Durant was overturned late in the game. The original call on the court could have probably gone either way, but there was no compelling evidence on the replay review to overturn the original call on the court imo, whichever way the original call had gone.
