Obviously, Wagner and Banchero would be off the table, and I'm guessing the Magic probably want to see what they have with Suggs for at least part of this season before making any moves.

A Suggs, Isaac and draft picks package has some upside, but the Magic have been a pretty bad team, and not having either of their two best assets (if I were Orlando, I wouldn't move either FW or PB), I don't know whether the Jazz see the Magic as a good trade partner.

Yeah, I think there is no way they would trade FW or PB. I think they would really like to keep Carter too. Isaac was a great defensive talent I just don't know how he will be after the injury and that Orlando has room for him in their crowded frontcourt. I definitely think they would move any of their guards for an upgrade and to improve their outside shooting. Suggs would by my top preference if I was the Jazz but would consider Anthony. I wouldn't want anything to do with Fultz.

Yeah they are a pretty interesting team in general. Their highest paid player next year makes less than $18 million (Issac), but you could argue that none of their top 5 highest paid guys besides Carter Jr. have a ton of trade value because of health questions.

The Lakers had conversations about joining the Jazz and Knicks a few weeks ago in a potential three-team trade, league sources told HoopsHype. The proposed three-team trade scenario included Russell Westbrook going to Utah and getting bought out. Utah would send Donovan Mitchell to the Knicks, a combination of two players, including Patrick Beverley and Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic or Malik Beasley to the Lakers, and the Jazz would receive significant draft pick compensation from the Knicks and Lakers. The Knicks also would’ve had to part with veteran salary filler(s), such as Derrick Rose to help make the salaries work.

Pretty close to one of my trade proposals last month. I don't think that the Lakers want to give up 2 picks, otherwise they would have Kyrie Irving already, so I would package Fournier or Rose from the Knicks with a Jazz player who has the salary but probably wouldn't garner a FRP and take on RW for a single pick.

Assuming a DM trade is done before camp, what do you think the Jazz can get for their remaining vets (Conley, Clarkson, Bogey, Beverley) and is that before the season or at the trade deadline?

I think we keep Clarkson as a veteran presence and build his value. Conley will be bought out. Bogey will be traded for a 1st. Bev will be traded for 2-3 2nds.
Ingles is cooked.

It’s rare in the NBA to see multi-year buyouts though. Maybe the partial guarantee makes it easier.

I kind of think Bogey stays now unless he is a part of a multiple player deal for Russ. I agree on PBev being shipped out quickly.

Conley isn't being bought out

I can see a possibility of Conley having some value at the trade deadline if a team is in need of a PG to make their playoff push. He is older, but his advanced stats are pretty good and he can clearly lead an offense.

I would think that the Mavs, after losing Brunson, would be interested in Beverly. Beverly would be great alongside Doncic as a secondary ball handler and providing backcourt defense. Would the Mavs give a first and Powell for Beverly? Maybe Powell and Josh Green and a couple of 2nds?

Bogey and Clarkson will also have value, perhaps even more so at the trade deadline for teams needing a scoring punch or shooting.

I think the Mavs would be a good fit for either one of Beverley or Conley.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I have to say I've never been less excited about the Jazz. I fully expect Ainge to sit on his hands and piss away all these assets, or for it to take an absolute eternity to be good again. I don't think I'm team championship or bust anymore, I just want to watch good basketball. If a core reaches the level of being a contender, great, but 20-35 wins just sounds like a really boring place to be.

A second round team is one lucky break from making it to the finals. I realize that we whiffed on most of our chances to get that lucky break by wasting first round picks - but I'm not excited about where we are at all.

It’s always hard to be excited at the start of a rebuild :(

This is probably the real truth. Once Donovan is gone who are we watching that is currently on this team? Walker Kessler? In a scenario where we trade Mitchell + deal our vets for whatever value we can get, this might end up the worst team of all time.

It really might; I’ve been a proponent of trying to move Mitchell for at least one young prospect that you can rally around; someone like Murray from the Kings. Might mean you get less assets back but having something… anything to feel good about would be huge.

I think a team with Grimes, Toppin, and Vanderbilt will be fun to watch. It will be a run and fun team.
