OT: ESPN- Utes contacted by PAC-10?
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/features ... umors#2981
I don't pay for ESPN so I don't know what's in the details here. Adding Utah and another western flagship university would allow them to have a championship game. Nothing in the Tribune yet.

I have mixed feelings about this. I am really sure why the PAC-10 is doing this.

To keep the MWC from getting an automatic bid. Get in the Pac-10, get Pac-10 money and recruiting, keep BYU out of the BCS.... I can live with that!

I dont have insider. I cant find any other credible news saying the Utes are in consideration (well anything more than speculation) to go to the Pac 10.

The Insider Rumor section is generally speculative, but it's a news wire tap basically that just shows rumors from papers around the country. It's probably in a California or Oregon paper or something.

Lya's good. And she's a hell of a lot more attractive than any of the other sports writers at the Trib (sorry, Ross).

I can't stand her.
There was news about this topic on the radio like 2 or 3 months ago. The U is under contract and if they are going to leave they can't do so until June. Technically they can't even negotiate until June.
Dr Chris Hill & Coach Whit spoke about the situation earlier this week in the confernce call with the confernce teams. They basically gave a no comment and a we haven't spoken with them. Coach Whit said that they are carrying on as normal.

Re: OT: ESPN- Utes contacted by PAC-10?
The BCS has put out the standards to get an auto bid. If the MWC adds BSU they could achieve it. If the PAC-10 wants to screw over the MWC they could take Utah. Strictly from a Athletic Department stance, BYU is up there, I admit that, but the Presidents of Cal, Oregon, Stanford, won't take on the headace of cutting the calender by 1/7 or the protests that would come from BYU's politics and academic standards. If the Pac-10 wants to stop the expansion of BCS that's the only move they need. They don't need Colorado. In fact, if Colorado refuses, I would recommend Hawaii come on to get that championship game. They immediately become the Northwestern like doormat; but they fit the geographic needs, they add a new market in the Islands and maybe Asia if that comes up, and they are a flagship University with Pac-10 credential.

Re: OT: ESPN- Utes contacted by PAC-10?
PAC-10 can still do Sunday stuff with BYU in the conference they would just have to be a little more delicate about the championship games and playoff games. They could have BYU play another day.
Hawaii & BSU is a tiny media market. There is now way that they add those too. This is all about $ and TV deals. Bringing a BSU to the table isn't going to help that much. Colorado market is a lot better than either of those. That is why they want CO. This really doesn't have much to do with actual ability on the field. BYU and Utah is considered the same market.

Re: OT: ESPN- Utes contacted by PAC-10?
BYU is a much bigger market, since it's Utah and all other Mormons. The problem is getting involved with a University like BYU is like marrying a woman who cooks, cleans, is really nice, butwon't do anything in the sack. Eventually you make so many concessions to this woman you get resentful and spiteful. Then you go to thanksgiving at her parents house and your brother in law breaks out the N word right there at the table, and no one seems to even care and you are like WTF? And you are stuck! Divorces are messy and expensive, and the Kids! What about the kids!

I know that you are joking but you are still serious to a degree and it pisses me off coming from a mod.

Re: OT: ESPN- Utes contacted by PAC-10?
To be honest, as an Oregon duck fan, I'm hoping that the pac 10 stays the pac 10. I could see some benefits from adding schools like Utah, Colorado, and BYU (all of whom have been discussed as pac 10 candidates), but in the end, creating a championship game would probably be a bad thing for northwest teams. If the pac-10 splits up into two divisions (which would likely happen), Oregon would probably get paired with schools like WSU, UW, OSU, etc. which denies them from playing the bigger name teams like USC, Cal, and standford every season. The pac 12 is an interesting idea no doubt, but I'm just not sure how much sense it makes for half of the teams.

Of course a PAC-10 team wouldn't want them to join, especially a fan of those teams. It means more of the pie that they have to share with other teams.

What pisses you off about that? He didn't say anything about any religion or anything. He said it's like marrying a girl who sucks in bed, and her brother is an ass hole and her family is ignorant. Cry about it for god sake.
Colin Cowherd said it'd be done in a year.
Why?
Good program, good potential to grow, proven track record (sorry BYU) and a Delta Hub.
