LA Times blasts Utah fans, SLC

Don't know how many of you have seen these...

Personally I find them offensive and completely classless.

Does anyone really care about the Fisher incident anymore? Is that really why we boo him? I was at the game in the lower bowl and never heard chants directed towards Fisher. In fact a lot of people cheer or at least clap for Fisher when they announce him pre-game. I'm pretty sure Jazz fans over Fisher but the media keeps finding ways to blast Utah Jazz fans.

So is Salt Lake City really that terrible of a place? So terrible you rather be in Nebraska or calling your dead mother to come save you from this place? And I believe statisically SLC is one of the better places to live in the entire country. Also, I'm almost certain Cali. as a whole buys more porn than Utah. What a joke....

Seems like Utah Jazz fan bashing is becoming as common as music references in Jazz headlines. I honestly think it's a way for the media to bash the Mormon population here without openly doing so. Just another reason why I can't stand the Lakers.....

I didn't mind the first one but the comments about the porn were pretty childish for a journalist writing for the second largest city in the USA, or anywhere for that matter. I personally never thought Fisher should have been boo'd for that. We all hated him when he was here (or at least the way that Sloan used him) and it gave us more cap space. I only hate Fisher because he probably had the worst season of his career here and went to LA and probably had the best. Purely basketball reasons.

WAH WAH WAH. Typical LA media. They love the taste of their own ****. What do you expect? They have to write something to help them feel better than living in their own hellhole.

Personally, I like this kind of publicity, keep all the LA transplants from coming here. Utah is too crowded as it is, I hope this keeps them away. The whole porn thing is funny. I really think that most Utahns are so stupid that they don't know you can get it for free, unlike most of the rest of the country.

I wonder if Plaschke, the most worthless tool in the LA media toolshed, has noticed that Fisher plays anything but a clean and inspiring game. He flops constantly, sets dirty and illegal screens, and always complains about fouls called on him. Everyone seemed to hate Stockton for this kind of stuff (minus the flopping and whining), yet nobody wrote an article about people booing him.

And honestly, if he wasn't wearing a Laker jersey, nobody would even care. He went back to the most hated team in Utah, give me a break.

I've been to LA many times, I would much rather be in SLC and I'm not LDS....

SLC, PC yes. The rest of the area... not as much. That's just my opinion.

I'd be willing this has more to do with proposition 8 than anything else. I have a lot of family and friends who live in California. Californians seem to hate Utahns as much as Utahns hate the Lakers, and the biggest part of that is the whole proposition 8 thing.

I wouldnt worry about California people, I would rather them stay there and not run down other places or drive real estate prices sky high.

I grew up in Cedar City and remember when that rifraf would come up from LA for the deer hunt and cause all kinds of problems. I remember back in 75 my graphic arts class made bumper stickers that said
This year Bag a prunny not dear. We use to call people from Calif prune pickers, let them stay there.

Let's not make this a California bashing thread. Stick to the articles. There's good here, good there, bad here, bad there.

Weak, they can't do better than that? I thought they were "ruthless" in L.A.

Didnt California vote FOR prop 8?? That logic would say that they agree with "Utahns", since your logic says "Utahns" are responsible for prop 8.

Are these guys writing for jim rome or something? Pretty lame...
Its the standard LA superiority complex. They know they are better than anyone in Utah, and can't understand why Utah doesn't recognize they are better and treat them well. And using Monson as a source for how Utah feels is like getting your national news from the National Inquirer. I don't want the Lakers to die....just to lose the game.

I'm just sick of people painting Jazz fans and Utahns as being one block of one kind of person. I know fans will be crass, but the Journalists have to have a higher standard.

The second article is just stupid on multiple levels. It's hard to believe that idiot is employed as a writer.

The hypocrisy of LA media is pretty vast. I'm sure they love being able to call a whole state hypocrites so they feel much better about their own blatant hypocrisy. Whatever makes you feel better, California...

Read my quote, which you just quoted, then tell me where exactly I said "Utahns are responsible for prop 8".... did you find it yet? Oh that's right, I never said such a thing. You should read posts before you start putting words in other peoples mouths... really makes you look stupid.

I never said it was justifiable, just that Californians hold Utahns to blame for proposition 8.

I found the articles pretty stupid BUT it reflects well on the Utah Jazz fans as they are supporting their team as much as possible. Im from California and these fans here are generally apathetic often going to the games to be seen and say they were there more than actually supporting their teams. I have never had nothing but great respect for the home court advantage the Jazz fans give their team.

The only criticism I have ever had about the team being in Utah is that it seems management, and to some extent the fans, are content with just being in the league and making the playoffs. Winning it all is not their goal but just a hope, while in LA the Lakers expect to win championships and do what it takes to do so. Maybe I expect too much from a team in a small market whose owner sells Toyotas for a living. A championship didnt happen when we got lucky to get Stockton and Malone (2 hall of famers) so it likely will never happen.

I think Jazz managment is as focused as Phoenix or Portland or Houston or Dallas. Look at Phoenix, that owner is notoriously cheap. Look at Dallas, that owner is notoriously free wheeling. The Lakers are the Lakers because of two wildly disproportionate trades.
