Is Lee an option if Boozer is not resigned? Or is it a better option to S&T Boozer? Or resigned him?

I don't know if you can do a double sign and trade or not. That would be the only way since the Jazz are over the cap.

I dont see why you wouldnt be able to. Lee would be come a crowd favorite very quickly and its not just because he's white but yes that would help some.

He wouldn't be a bad consolation prize if Boozer walks, but, definitely a downgrade from Booze.

I hate to break it to you, but there is no consolation prize if Boozer walks.

I'm mixed on Lee. He has crazy games, and puts up absurd stats, and yet can't play a lick of defense and despite his number he's a poor rebounder as far as form goes.

Lee has had dantoni as a coach. he has never had a defensive minded coach, I think he could be coached up by sloan. Plus lee is going to give you more hustle then boozer, and he is a willing defender he just sucks at it. He'll try to do a whole lot more then just step aside and swipe at the ball.

Lee is not the athletic length we need to compete. He is good at what he does but weak at what we need.

I love Lee, but I think he's the exact opposite of what our FO should be looking into. He surely won't make a difference if we have to match up against the bigs of LA in the playoffs again.

The Jazz could use the Harpring trade exception to sign a free agent like Lee--but it will push them up near the luxury tax threshold.

There are a lot more FA's out there that I'd be more interested in looking into.

Yes there is...The Jazz defense just improved dramatically. Boozer is a great offensive player except versus very tall teams like the Lakers but he maybe the worst and I mean the worst defensive PF in the league. He has to go as not worth the money and lack of D. Jazz will miss his points and rebounds but they will not miss his lack of D.

Boozer actually posted the best defensive win share/48 minutes on the Jazz this season. (Was also tops in total defensive win shares).

The numbers back up what I saw with my eyes. He had his best defensive season.

Why would we go after Lee if we are trying to get better? He is not better then Boozer. If we were going to do a double sign and trade (if possible) you could do better then Lee. Lee is like Kaman, they only look good cuz they are on a bad team... someone has to rebound and score.

I would sign Lee for 2/3 or less of what Boozer makes in his next contract. Thing is New York won't need to do a sign and trade unless they get up to the salary cap, which I don't think they will do. They will sign a guy like Joe Johnson for less than max and wait for Carmelo. If they don't get James, Wade or Bosh I see them resigning Lee and adding a less than max guy. Problem for the Knicks now is they are still owing draft picks, but if they remain awful they aren't unprotected and the final years are cash and 2nd rounder deals.

So I need to amend my comment earlier. Did some reading up on trade exceptions on Larry Coon's FAQ and trade exceptions cannot be used to sign free agents--only can be used in a TRADE (duh--not sure why I didn't get that initially).
