Hey guys this is my first post on this board so please be gentle.. In the unlikely event that the Jazz win the number one pick, they will have a number of options. I'm interested in your feedback as to what you think they would/should do with the pick.

1. Use the pick on the consensus number 1 player John Wall. A Williams/Wall backcourt could be deadly.

2. Reach for a player like Evan Turner/DeMarcus Cousins

3. Trade the pick for a proven all-star

4. Trade down for a mid to late lottery pick and receive players and/or future picks in return

I would trade down with Minnesota and get their lottery pick+16th pick and maybe dump some salary on them.

Scenario 1. Draft John Wall
Scenario 2. Draft John Wall
Scenario 3. Sell the team to investors from Kansas City if they don't draft John Wall

Since there are only two days left before the lottery we have last opportunity to speculate about the first pick - after Tuesday it will be history (it's completely unrealistic that the Jazz will win the lottery especially considering their luck).
But if they get the first pick it will be an irony: on one hand: unique opportunity (looking at the Jazz draft history - probably one in a franchise history) to draft a franchise player, on the other: you already have your franchise player playing the same position.
I don't believe that Wall and DWill could play together in the same lineup - the defensive matchups would kill them unless they try to outscore other teams (I'm trying to figure out how they defended other teams with Stockton and Hornacek).
I think that the Jazz with Wall and DWill would be fun to watch but unable to win playoffs games against big lineups like Lakers, Portland (Oden, Aldridge), Clippers (Kaman, Griffin), Orlando (with Howard inside) or Boston (with Perkins and Garnett) etc.
The best two guys in the draft are PG and SG and the Jazz need a big man.
They could draft Turner but will he really give them more than they expect from Matthews?
If they draft Wall in order to trade him, it becomes risky - when everybody knows that you try to offload some redundant talent they won't give you much.
So it all comes down to Cousins and Favors. Cousins reminds me of Eddy Curry (although his numbers are great).
With the first pick in the 2010 draft the Utah Jazz select Derrick Favors .... - really? is this all that they can get? ...... bittersweet

Exactly. You draft John Wall regardless, always draft the best player and Wall is the best player.

I actually think a Wall/Williams back court could be great, but only if the Jazz added a big shot blocker in the middle to compliment them. Everything changes for the Jazz when they have a big to funnel everything to under the hoop.

In any case, you draft John Wall. He's got the most value. If you can move him in Penny Hardaway/Chris Webber type of move where you still get a great player (I think Favors is the next Amare) and a bunch of draft picks, then so be it. Deron only has two more years left on his deal, so drafting another star PG isn't the worst idea in the world.

Deron has had some great success playing with Dee Brown and Chris Paul in the Olympics. The Jazz also made their biggest playoff push with Fish at the 2. Deron is strong enough, Wall is athletic enough. I think Wall is too good too pass up.

Plus when we don't add the length we need, Wall can take Deron's place when he leaves.

Without a doubt pick Evan Turner. That's a championship backcourt for years to come.

Put the pick in a package with Memo for NJ's (at worst, #4 pick) and Lopez, and a future draft pick (2012?).

Don't know if Memo can be traded, though.

The best case scenario for getting Turne would be the Jazz getting 1 and the Nets getting 2. The Jazz could swap for next years pick, top 8 protected.

Who said Deron was going to leave?

1. Draft John Wall
2. If the team with the #2 pick is dying to have the #1, and wants to give up a lot for it, considering moving down and taking Turner. Honestly, there may not be huge difference between these two in a few years, and for the Jazz needs, Turner could be a better fit.

I would cry if they trade down. The success rate of higher picks is higher than 3 low picks combined.

I think you trade down the pick to no lower than 3 or 4 and still get the chance to draft Turner, Favors or Cousins. We have an Elite PG we DON'T need John Wall! I myself would prefer Turner and he would give us that scorer that we have so desperately needed. I know we need a big man but IMO a scoring threat like Turner is just as valuable.

There are so many possible scenarios it is really hard to find the one that works best for the Jazz. If they did get the #1, the two best scenarios is keep Wall and play Williams/Wall together or get a lopsided deal similar to the Penny Hardaway/Webber deal.

If the pick is one you must take Wall. Otherwise we need a longer more athletic front court player, not more wings. The worst thing that can happen is to take another wing that doesn't fix our shortcomings just expands our rotations.

We score enough points to win. The middle needs to be closed to driving.
