Six years in the making, yes, we need a game thread for the lotto. Jeanie, what chance do the Jazz have to win the lottery?

The Utah Jazz have picked better than 13th in the NBA draft just once in the past 27 years.

That's about to change.

The league holds its annual draft lottery Tuesday night and, thanks to a long-ago trade, the Jazz will be an unfamiliar participant.

Utah owns the New York Knicks' place in this lottery -- No. 9 overall. That translates into a handful of possibilities:

» The Jazz have a 2.2 percent chance at the No. 1 overall pick.

» They have a 7.9 percent chance of moving into the top three.

» They have just under a 90 percent chance of staying at No. 9 or dropping back one spot to No. 10.

» They have a microscopic chance of falling back to No. 11 or No. 12.

"I just hope we get lucky," said Jazz coach Jerry Sloan.

I'm assuming this'll be on 1320 tomorrow? I'll probably be working. I'm going against my previous prediction and saying we'll take the 3rd pick. Also I think we'll pick 9th.

Can't remember the last time I waited this long for something. I remember trading for this pick and thinking we'd never see it get to this point.

Homies . . . keep your expectations low. When Chicago got the #1 pick a few years back from the 9th spot it was a big freaking deal because their chances were so low. Try and remember that we are a long shot even to get into the Top 3.

I am trying to keep my mindset that we are picking 9th.
