Should the Jazz move to Vegas?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Thu May 20, 2010 5:39 pm

I know Utah Jazz fans want them to stay in Utah, but doesnt a move to Vegas make sense for the organization. It is still close enough for Utah residents to go to games plus attendance would be spectular plus free agents would be a much easier draw.

The Jazz can draw the players they need to win a championship while in Utah they simply dont have the money, tv contract, or attendance to support a NBA elite team.

Most importantly to me I have a house there where I can go to Jazz games. :D

It just makes sense for the Jazz to move there before another team is allowed there taking away fans for the Jazz!!!

so if the nba expands into vegas, where you live, and takes all the jazz fans away from utah, does that mean you'll switch teams?

If you haven't noticed Las Vegas is a ghost town with no money except in the casinos. Good luck getting good attendance when most people can't even find a job down there.

Bingo. Which is why the NBA keeps nixing the idea.

Tourists do not make up a good fan base.

Las Vegas has 13% unemployment, no corporate base and mountains of underwater real estate. From a completely neutral point of view, no it makes no sense at all. The Jazz are in great financial shape, have a ton of support and are in a city with a good economy and is the fastest growing state currently.

I try not to ban posters for non-violations of the TOS, but, this thread is making my banning finger itch.

The Jazz have some of the best attendance numbers in the NBA. Why would they move?

Why not move Toledo to one of 29 other fan base boards?

I can see it now....slot machines on the concourse that spell out J - A - Z - Z for the win...pole dancers in the luxury boxes...sports book near the concessions stand where you can bet on any game--except for the one currently going on in the building...

And for the record--I'm no more likely to go to Las Vegas to see a Jazz game than I would be to go watch them play in Denver. You do realize it is like 5 hours away from the Salt Lake City season ticket holders and TV market, right?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TV ... orts_teams

This is the list of media markets in the Big 5 sports leagues. There are 3 NBA teams in smaller markets than the Jazz.

The Jazz would never be a draw in Vegas. I just don't believe Vegas is any sort of sports town. Gambling on sports sure. Attending them? Do they even have any sort of decent arena for an NBA franchise?

I as a Jazz fan living in Vegas would love this, lol! Believe it or not basketball is huge in Vegas, but its a Laker town. If the Lakers played here they would sell out every game. Right now the Tomas and Mac is the biggest stadium , but I was just reading the other day that several arena blueprints were shown to city planners.

Return to Utah Jazz
