Hard Cap

So I read today that bosh has made it known that he is willing to go to 5 teams, All large market teams or stay in Totoronto. He even said he would like to go to the lakers.
I am getting sick of the NBA. The smaller market teams are not ever going to be dominate.
Imagine Bosh on the Lakers, that just makes me want to puke.
THe NBA needs to implement a Hard Cap. I didnt purchase league pass this year because I knew how the year would end, especially with the Jazz standing put. Now I dont think I will do it again next year, because the Jazz will stand put without Boozer. Mabey resign mathews and Korver.
In the last 30 years their has been only 7-8 teams that have won a championship, and the bulk of the championships were from boston and La and Chicago.
I am going to write a letter to the Jazz and to the NBA. A big market will always have advantages because players like living thier, but their should not be advantages by the way the NBA is set up too.

Sorry to say, but Stern will just throw your letter in the trash. He gets a lot more money from large market teams than he does from you.
It would be nice if the league could even it out somehow, but that doesn't make someone not want to live and play in Utah. The Jazz will always be screwed in that regard. I wouldn't want someone that was forced to play here anyway.

Being from Europe I have to say that NBA is one of the most "comunist" system in world sports.
See Europe... there's a few great teams in a great sports and they all have the money, they all have the players, there's any limit to spend.
I mean, in Spain FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are going to be the better teams always in soccer and Basketball, because they have the money. They spend all they want, they get any players they want.
It doesn't matter if you have a contract or not, if you don't want to play in your team you can force to go out.
In NBA smallest markets can compete. If your team is a disaster you'll get your pick. You can spend the same than biggest market teams. And see that dinasties are created over picks in the draft (LAL Magic and Kobe, Bird in Celtics, Bulls and Jordan, Duncan and Spurs or Pistons and Thomas).
More than money, the issue is where are you gonna play. NY is the biggest market, but their team is sucking for more than a decade. Los Angeles have Lakers... but don't forget that Clippers have the same city and they suck. New Jersey is next to NY and well... their history sucks. Then you have Chicago and since Jordan they have not player any ECF and they have missed playoff several times.
Our team have a problem.
Jazz are in a city who people seems to dislike. Then when people are in Jazz seems they use to love the city. People like AK, Boozer, Memo, Harpring, Malone, Stockton, Hornacek were confortable and I think a lot of players would be confortable. Who cares the city when you are living in any city for 8 or 9 months a year if you reach the finals and the 50% of time are you traveling and watching different cities??
Another problem is we aren't good enough to win it all, but we aren't the bad enough to get a great player to win it all. When we get one (Deron) we build too many fast.

+1
Add to it thet even not drafting in high spots the Jazz had chance to draft more star players, because, as many other teams they passed on great players in several drafts. It's just a matter of really good scouting, a good amount of patience and a little bit of luck... and you're right there fighting for the championship.
How many years it took for Amare Stoudemire to really explode? Actually he did it this season. He has had talent around him for some time now, but he really skyrocket this season.
What if Fesenko/Koufos explode next season or the next one? What if the Jazz take a chance on Whiteside or Motiejunas or Henry and the guy explode in a couple seasons?
All this things can happen, there a real chance.
Of course there's not a chance to spend 90+M in a seson roster a la Lakers...

I understand the theoretical appeal of a hard cap, but the Jazz have benefited from a soft cap. A soft cap combined with Bird rights really helps a team like the Jazz hold on to the talent they find/develop.

You know what? I like cheering a small market team. Even if larger markets have more money, more opportunity, more championships. I don't care.
I like underdogs. I like the movie Rocky. I would rather cheer for a team that never wins a championship than one for whom it is an inevitability.
Is it painful? Yes. But I don't care. I don't watch basketball to stroke my own ego. I watch it because it's exciting.
I don't like superstars, I like teams with disparate parts that were rejected by all the teams that "matter". I like Wes Matthews and Paul Millsap far more than I will ever like Carlos Boozer.
I don't care about championships. I care about basketball.

Just so you know, Carlos was a second round pick and isn't considered a superstar. It's more than OK to like him.

Yeah. He has a real admirable success story.
Still, I'll be glad when he's gone.

True dat.
In success stories, the hero should continue to play defense--and should be able to help his team to win at least a couple of games. Instead, CB got his stats vs. L.A. and did little more.

Ya I would love to see a hard cap but it's never going to happen.
I don't understand why Bosh or other superstars wouldn't want to come to Utah right now. If winning is as important to these guys as they say then Utah should be one of the top spots. We always win, we have a HOF coach, a more than proven system, great fans/arena and have one of the best players in the NBA in D-Will.
I'm sick of these guys saying winning is the most important thing and then just end up going to a big market so they can get famous, party and bang whoever they want.
I could totally see the Lakers trading Bynum and some scrubs to get Bosh in LA. If that happens I'm not watching the NBA for the next 4 seaons, would be no reason to watch. Although it's not much better right now....

I think if Bosh went to LA he'd get to do all those things AND win some titles. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.
