It's a bit early to post expectations for next year, but I'm starting to view it as a pseudo-rebuilding season. I'm assuming that:

A) Boozer won't be back
B) Memo will be out until Christmas
C) The Jazz don't make any major moves besides their 1st round draft pick

It seems likely then that the Jazz brass will be watching closely to see if a team built around Deron, Millsap, CJ, Wes and AK can succeed. I think it will be a season of "organic growth" -- to use a tired phrase. If that growth happens and that core shows promise, the Jazz will be in a great position to add pieces next summer to become a contender. If instead the team goes south, the Jazz will still be in a great position to dramatically refashion the team in time for Deron's make-or-break season.

I've been thinking the same thing lately. We'll be developing our pick, waiting for Memo to get healthy, and letting AK's contract expire. Then next year we'll be free of AK's insane contract, saving us a bunch of money that we can put to good use. We'll have our big man developed (hopefully), have a better idea of how CJ and Wes are going to work out at their positions, the Memphis 1st round pick, maybe a decent 1st round pick of our own, and Memo will be healthy (and maybe good trade bait).

2010-2011 will probably be like you say, a mini-rebuild year.

It's not exactly as exciting as the NY pick because of the restrictions. It's not like it's going to be a lotto pick.

Also we get A. Tomic after this upcoming season right? If we draft a center that's 2 player slots right there unless we get a PF and let Boozer walk.

Unless FO goes into the offseason with the urgency that DWill has publicly hinted towards, I think your spot on and although it might suck for us, it might be better in the long run.

Top 14-protected in 2011, Top-12 in 2012, Top-10 in 2013 and Top-9 in 2014-15. If after 2015, Jazz receive cash from Grizzlies

All i know is we better get a pick from memphis if we only end up with cash i think its pretty safe to say the whole fan base will be livid.

That will be pretty far down the road. It's 5 years away.

Seriously? Over Brewer? I am wondering what he did that Wesley and CJ haven't done since that trade that makes some people think that trade was a bad deal...

I still have a chubby over that trade. Brewer is a great player, but he is not championship material. Go watch last years Lakers series if you disagree. We need shooting guards who can shoot. When Blowby can sag off and let you shoot open threes while he double-teams our bigs, then you know there's a problem. You don't have that problem with Wes. Our bigs on the other hand...
