What do you guys think it would take to get the Jazz to sign and trade the Booz to the Magic? A package revolving around Gortat, maybe JJ? Any opinions are welcome.

Gortat and JJ, eh? I think something like that can be worked out.

How about Gortat, JJ, Bass and your first round pick in this years draft.

I'm sure we could work something out, I believe both teams could benefit greatly from a Boozer S&T. Both sides have pieces that would really help out the other.

There's no reason for Orlando to include who they draft. In a sign and trade the power belongs to the player and the new team. Especially when Boozer has options that leave the Jazz out completely.

I think something like that would really work. The purpose of the thread was just to gauge interest. I just started thinking about it today a Boozer sign and trade makes perfect sense. Boozer wants to play with Howard, you guys need a true center, Sloan would absolutely love JJ. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Magic/Jazz working on this ASAP.

I like the idea, but isn't JJ a restricted free agent?

Yeah, he would have to be signed and traded as well which may put a snag in a deal. I'm not exactly sure how that would work.

I hope something like this happens instead of Boozer walking to the highest bidder with no return...

I love gortat's game. I think he would fit in nicely on our roster. If we could get this deal done i would be ecstatic. Slide ak to the 4 spot and give memo some burn at both the 4 and 5.

When Gortat came out in the draft, he measured out as a legit 7-foot w/o shoes and had a 36 inch vert :D

if not for the sign and trade, i would reject this. boozer is too good for "just" gortat. but it is lots better than him walking.

magic would be a beast with him and howard manning the offensive paint, with carter and lewis and nelson outside. jazz would be worse off, but better than with him just leaving.

I would do it = Gortat and Bass, if you put JJ it's simply perfect.

I really like this! Sign & trade Boozer & Koofus for Bass, Gortat & Reddick.

Williams Gaines Price Reddick
Mathews Reddick Jeffers
Kirlinko Miles Mathews jeffers
Milsap Bass Rookie #9 Kirlinko
Gortat Okur Fesenko Rookie #9

I can't see Redick being included because of his RFA status.

But I believe you could do Bass + Gortat for Boozer, assuming Boozer starts off at $13M:

Orlando outgoing:
Gortat ($6.3M)
Bass ($4M)
-------------
$10.3M

Utah outoing:
Boozer ($13M)
-------------
$13M

1.25 * $10.3M + $100k = $12.975M

So then the question is: if Boozer isn't worth shelling out $13M for, why pay $10M for Gortat and Bass? The Jazz would be going into luxury tax territory for two career bench players: one of them an untested center and the other a poor man's Paul Millsap.

Because you get two players for the price of one? It would make our bench better. Gortat would be better than any back up center we have right now. Bass is another guy that would be great energy and heart off the bench.

Plus unloading one would not be a hard thing if needed.

Yeah, I can see that. I think I'd still do the trade, but it would be a bit of a gamble.
