A book about Utah Jazz

Post#1 » by zbone » Tue May 25, 2010 12:41 pm

Hi.
Can someone recommend a really good book about Utah Jazz history, key players, some insider stories, etc? Something really worth time and paper it's been printed on, not just commonly known facts diluted with bla-bla-bla

I would suggest the new biography about Larry H. Miller.

Not so much about the Jazz but a good book about a Jazz all-time great would be a book titled "Pistol". It's about Pete Maravich and his life, really enjoyed reading that and has a bit of stuff about the Jazz in there.

I'd check the publisher of the LHM book. If it's a publisher of LDS books you are likely to get a pretty substantial slant.

Check out these books. Great insight about the history of the Jazz, the formation of the Jazz in Utah, and the peak of the Jazz in the 1990's:

I recommend this one too. Definitely a great read to how Utah became such a good organization and how their franchise formed such a historic past by bringing in guys like Stockton, Malone, and Sloan.

Thank you guys.
I read description of tbe LHM book and I am puzzled whether it is about hard nosed man becoming a millionaire, his dealerships and so on or there is a focus on the Jazz in it.

On a related note, is there a good documentary on the Jazz? Is it available on DVD?

One thing that reading these books will leave you with: Frank Layden may be the all-time MVP of the Jazz organization...
