In 2007, Fisher’s daughter Tatum, then 11 months old, was found to have a rare form of eye cancer. After emergency surgery in New York, Fisher rejoined the Jazz, to whom he had been traded, for a playoff game already in progress against the Warriors.

Fisher hit the game-winning shot in overtime and Bryant, watching in Los Angeles, thought, “We need him back.”

The Lakers missed Fisher’s high-arching southpaw jumper. Bryant clamored for a like-minded colleague, his best friend. He lobbied hard for Fisher when Utah released him from his contract so he could seek treatment for his daughter in a bigger city.

I really hate Fisher as a Laker. Loved him on the Jazz, though.

I hater Fisher on the Jazz. Not his fault he played SG though. Of course Kobe wanted Fish back, he had Smush Parker that year.

Just saying what we all knew. Loved him here, will always hate him as long as he is a Laker.

Actually it was Fish's fault he played SG. See, we brought him in to backup DWill. But when he saw how amazing Williams had become in his 2nd year, he knew being a backup would be a 10 mpg job. So he said "Im a shooting guard and a starter" and thats what Jerry gave him.

For me, the shot against the Warriors is a perfect summary of Fisher's time here. For our organization, much like for that game, he was pretty much a zero. Then he arrives in time to knock down one shot, gets all the credit for that game even though it was our other guys who worked their asses off to be in the position to win (and for our post season success that year since we've not made it back to WCF) and then he forces the trade. Yet all people remember was that he's the guy who was the reason we won. What a joke.
