Memo tried to extend his game and his Achilles tendon could not handle it. He will not train in the off-season and will be out of shape. Aldrich, possible #9 pick, will not be ready to compete with Lakers frontcourt.
Brendan Haywood is free agent. His performance in Dallas was not impressive so maybe Cuban would be reluctant to give him a big contract. Haywood earned 6 M this season. I suggest a sign-and-trade deal where a team sends Haywood to the Jazz for Millsap and Koufos. Say 27 M in 3 years or 32 M in 4 years.
Millsap gets a starting job somewhere, Koufos is useless, Haywood is defensive presence, quite athletic 7-footer, solid rebounder. The Jazz could draft a SF, say Paul George. And of course, re-sign Carlos Boozer.

Re: Brendan Haywood
I did not watch him in Dallas but his numbers are respectable. If someone underperforms that's the only way how to steal him from a powerhouse. His playofs +/- stats were +5, +6, +9, 0, +22 and -13, total of +29 (team-high) so it brings a different spin on his playoffs performance.
More from his reg season stats NBA ranking:
#13 in rebs per game (#2 in offensive rebs)
#4 in blocks per game
His stats in 48 games in Washington were impressive: 9.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 2.1 bpg, .561 FG% in 32.9 mpg.

He's ok and fits in the SLoan system BUT he will be over-paid. I would rather go with Kosta if Memo not ready. We are in trouble at the center position!!!!
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Re: Brendan Haywood
Haywood is a good player, but not worth the same contract that Memo has. I'd offer him close to the MLE, maybe $4,000,000 a year, but if he didn't accept I'd look at guys like Josh Boone who will be had cheaply but can still be very good backup centers.
Actually before I looked at Haywood I would consider Samuel Dalembert. He had his best season last year, expires the same year as AK, and Philadelphia (who we have good relations with) wants him gone.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: Brendan Haywood
A bit of reasoning would help (well, maybe not).
Haywood is legit center, athletic veteran 7-footer. #4 in blocks and #13 in rebounds, that speaks for itself.

I've liked Haywood, and I had wished (and suggested) that Utah trade for him. Haywood didn't seem to distinguish himself in the playoffs, though--and neither did the Mavericks.jozef wrote:A bit of reasoning would help (well, maybe not).

Ever since the S&M era, the Jazz unfortunately haven't, either, IMHOdr0welf wrote:Mavericks rarely do
