As an outsider looking in, this is exactly the player the Jazz need. He's an excellent defender, extremely long and can play either PF or C. He could play next to Boozer, Millsap, Okur, Kirilenko or Fesenko and I think he'd help the Jazz alot defensively, especially against the Lakers length.

The Jazz would have to somewhat creative in getting him but he's out there. Thoughts?

I like his game and I do think he would be a great fit. But I don't see the Jazz being able to pull him in. And even though they SAY he is healthy, I'm not sure the risk is worth 12M+ that he will be looking for per year.

In theory he is exactly the type of guy the Jazz need at C, problem is he is too injury prone.

First of all, he said he is considering opting out. But after his last two seasons, there is not a team who would pay him nearly $12M. It would be a huge mistake financially for him to opt out. If he just wants out of Charlotte that bad, perhaps he is willing to take the hit- but I really doubt that is the case. More likely he is angling for an extension.

Despite the injury element that people have discussed, it is basically going to be impossible for the Jazz to sign any other team's free agents due to our salary cap restrictions.

Not unless he wants to take our MLE.

Too risky. I like Chandler's game, but KOC just cannot cook it (at least I canno see how) and may be he's 100% or not.... who knows really?

Other reports have the Hornets willing to give up Collison if they can pack one of their bad contracts. If there's a way to get Collison (may be taking Posey packed with him - 6.5 and 6.9M remaining) I'll think about it....

He may be looking for a more long term deal and making more money over the life of the contract.

I find it funny that people don't want him because he is too injury prone. It is true that he is injury prone. He would do wonders here. Almost anytime any big man is brought up nobody wants him for one reason or another. Who is this mythical prefect big man that everybody wants? Some people are too quick to turn a guy down. There is always a down side to every player. You have to take some bad with the good.

I doubt he opts out, there is no way he get's offered big contracts after that letdown of a season. And at what 12 mill? i don't think he's worth it

I don't think he is turned down because he is injury proned. He is turned down because he will be looking for more then he is opting out of so 12M+ and he is injury proned. I would take the risk on him at 4-6M per year. But 12M is a lot to lock up on an injuried prone player.... we have been there and done that. Frustrating to watch a player making 12M+per year and sitting on the bench most the year.

He is a too risky prospect for sure. The fact that he hasn't played a full season in a while shows that he truly is not worth more than a MLE.

Why wouldn't we just draft a center? At least that way if he doesn't work out we aren't paying 12 mil per year for him.

I don't think that he expects to get $12 mil a year. He is probably looking for smaller amount each year over several years.
