Espn writer has a good article about the free agent value of Boozer this summer. He believes like me that Boozer is over-valued as a player. The Jazz were a better team statisically when Boozer was out of the game. Like I said, he should have have been traded at the allstar game. Hopefully, the Jazz can work out a sign and trade for him, but I would not re-sign him at 13-15 million per year.

I believe Boozer is one of the most overvalued players in the league. We'll find out how great he is offensively without DWill. Defensively, he sucks. Not a max player.

If you pay him max money then yes, he's overvalued. I believe Boozer is worth $12M/year to the Jazz.

yes, because he put up horrendous numbers in cleveland. He had no PG there and did well. Not saying DWill doesnt make him better, but he plays good without him too.

Re: Free Agent Value of Boozer??
I agree on both points. Booz can flatout play ball! However, he is equally as detrimental on defense as he is beneficial on offense. I'd say his biggest addition to the Jazz is that it allows us to bring Millsap off the bench. That is a great talent to be able to bring off the bench. When Booz is no longer a Jazz man I think it will hurt us only in that we now need a back up for Millsap. So, it hurts our depth, but I don't really think it changes our starting line-up "win/loss" potential a whole lot. BIg week for jazz brass!

3/36 is what I would pay.
But he will likely get 4/55-60.

- Jazz has only one player signed for 2+ seasons: Paul Millap
- Williams can end his tenure in Utah after the next 2 seasons
- Jazz will not offer Boozer more than 2, may be 3 seasons, so he will be gone looking for 2 more ears in his contract

Re: Free Agent Value of Boozer??
Locke said something several months ago about Boozer, that has made me really think about extending Boozer's time in Utah. He basically felt that because Boozer has a narrow athletic margin for error, that when his athleticism goes, it will go quickly. He likened him to a tennis star, who once they reach a certain age it just becomes a quick downhill slide. I believe that applies to Boozer.
If you remember 2 years ago now, when Boozer had the knee surgery, after he came back he had no lift. It took him until mid season this year to get his athleticism back. The article today mentioned that Boozer has been on the DL now on 7 different occasions. It is my belief that his injuries will catch up with him very soon and we will regret resigning him. I agree that we will greatly miss him because he allows Paul Millsap to come off the bench, and where most teams experience a scoring drop off with their back up PF in the game, we usually experience an increase because Paul is just so much better than other teams backups.
I believe that is where AK and who we draft become so pivotal for us this year. Let Boozer walk. Do a sign and trade only if it gives us a good young shooting guard, or some post defense.

Re: Free Agent Value of Boozer??
I don't think the Jazz should even consider a contract for Boozer, but disagree with analysis that he is due for a big falloff in performance. The sudden fall comes from guys who rely primarily on athleticism. Boozer has never been a jumper ... his game is position, space-eating, and control. I see him putting up similar performance for the next five years with a team like New Jersey or Chicago. I'm also intrigued by the concept of a trade with Orlando for Gortat and Reddick or Pietrus. Orlando really has to make a move for some interior scoring to take pressure off Howard. Gortat will be a much better center for the next two years than anyone the Jazz can draft.
Gortat/Okur/Fesenko
Millsap/Patterson
Kirilenko/Miles
Mathews/Reddick
Williams/Price
That's about as good as the Jazz can hope for next season and I think the fans would feel encouraged.
