Utah and Minny trade idea

Post#1 » by Shocker00 » Thu Jun 24, 2010 2:14 am

What do you think about this trade idea? I believe minny would also have to include a throw in player that makes about 2M a yr for this trade to work

Utah Trades: #9 , AK47, Tomic
Utah recieves: #4(Cousins), Jefferson

Minnesota Trades: #4, Jefferson
Minnesota Recieves: #9, AK 47, Tomic

Why for Utah: Utah moves up in the draft and gets the best big guy in the draft. Utah should match up better against the Lakers. If cousins does turn out to be a good player it will help keep DWill here.

Why for Minnesota: Minnesota is looking to trade Jefferson for expiring contracts. They will recieve AK's expiring and Tomic to drop down to number 9 in the draft.

I really like Cousins and for that reason I would do this in a heart beat. I don't think Minnesota would do this unless they really like Tomic. I don't know much about Tomic either, but the chance to get Cousins would be sweet.

Could AK and Minnesota negotiate a buyout? Similar to Ilgauskus last year, maybe we then can sign him back for a contract more on his level...

Minny would be stupid to make this trade in division. Besides Al Jefferson gets injured as much as Boozer and is likely worse defensively.

no one worse defensively than Boozer!! Minn doesnt do this ,,,but would do Jefferson for AK-47 and the #9 pick. Utah would be making a huge investment in jefferson if they did this. Jefferson, Millsap and Miles still leaves utah with a small front court.

Maybe you need to watch more basketball. Jefferson is worse than Boozer on the defensive side of the ball and it is because of effort - not lack of the right physical attributes like Carlos.

Boozer had a pretty good defensive year. There are plenty of power forwards who are terrible on defense: Amare, Z-Bo, David West, Al Jefferson...

I agree. Boozer is above average for the modern power forward. Also add Lee to your list.

Jefferson actually averaged a block more per game last year than Booz, but I agree for the most part that he is by no-means a stellar defender. And Booz is not a bad defender because he lacks "the right physical attributes".(Just look at Millsap) He's a bad defender because he is ALWAYS late on rotations and lacks the lateral quickness to guard anyone with any type of ball handling skills.

Boozer is a terrible defender agianst taller PF's in the league. He has gave up like 75% shooting to Gasol over the last 3 yrs. Bosh, Staudamire and some of the bigger PFs have a heyday with Boozer trying to guard them. Im not saying that Jefferson is any better because that I don't know. If your going to be a bad defender then might as well at least have some lenght at least to alter shots. I think Bosh is better than Boozer simply because he has more lenght and he can alter more shots than Boozer can even though Bosh is a bad defender himself.

I do any trade that nets us Al Jefferson and the #4 pick. If we pick up anyone from Cousins to Johnson our team is set and has a strong core to keep D WIll happy and we should still buy or trade for another first rounder. If you have any doubt go here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcT7JTmP ... re=related Look at other videos from him. He is a player. Cousins would be a great Center next to him. Plus Johnson would be a huge SF for us if they went that way. DO THIS IF MINNY IS CRAZY ENOUGH TO PLAY!!! Even throw in the Mem pick.

I would be on cloud 9 if that trade happened.
